AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 20: GRAY GRANITE

This week, some of my Stampin' Up! friends and I are featuring Gray Granite in the creations we have to share with you.  Our weekly Colour Creations Showcase is hosted by Cathy Proctor.  Cathy has a comprehensive list on her blog of all participants in this week's share.  We hope you'll visit all our blogs, to get some inspiration for using this lovely warm grey.

I have teamed Gray Granite with Blushing Bride and Whisper White, to make a soft, feminine, card.  I have used the lovely Field of Flowers bundle, comprising a stamp set and Confetti Flowers border punch.  The two-part sentiment is stamped on Whisper White card, using the Stamparatus, in Blushing Bride and Gray Granite inks.  I stamped the grassy/leafy border stamp in Gray Granite ink on the same piece of Whisper White card, and the tiny flowers in Blushing Bride ink on Blushing Bride card - then punched out the flowers and adhered them to the grass/stems.  I cut out this panel using Stitched So Sweetly Dies, and embossed the piece with the Subtle 3D embossing folder.  After matting the scalloped rectangle panel on a piece of Blushing Bride card, I added a few decorative touches - some Gray Granite butterflies, and pearls in the flower centres.

Two panels of Gray Granite Designer Series Paper form the background of my card.  The top half is from Peony Garden (on special this month!), and the bottom piece from the Neutrals 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper collection.  I matted these papers on a piece of Gray Granite card, then wrapped ribbon around the horizontal join.  First I laid down a piece of Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon, then overlaid some Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon on top.

Here's a closer view of the embossed panel.  I've just noticed that the tiny pearl has dropped from the flower centre on the left ... I have since rectified that!

This photo shows the ribbon treatment:

I adhered the focal panel using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Here is a side view to show the layering:

  11. What I love about this card is the balance of the elements.
Almost 50/50 with the Gray Granite and Whisper White and then that tiny touch of Blushing Bride just makes it spring to life.
Also the texture and perceived texture - the expanses of Gray Granite are broken with the white of the text and the lines of the peopnies printed on its, the expanse of white is broken with the Subtle embossing folder and the uneven "edge" of flowers and grasses. It's just a perfect blending of elements to make a really aesthetically pleasing card.

  12. As always you have made the feature colour shine. Gray granite and Whisper White is just such a crisp colour combo and adding a bit of Blushing Bride has just softened it.So many beautiful elements to love about this card.
