STAMPIN' UP! LOST LAGOON CHRISTMAS CARD

 

After missing last week's Colour Creations blog hop, due to another trip to visit family and friends in New Zealand, I'm excited to be back and playing along again.  

The feature colour this week is Lost Lagoon, a beautiful soft greeny-blue  (or, bluish green, depending on how you look at it!) in Stampin' Up!'s range.

On tonight's card, I have a sneak peek of some new dies that are coming out next month.  The Everyday Arches Dies will be in Stampin' Up!'s Mini Catalogue launching on 7th January.  One of the exciting things about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, is getting to pre-order new goodies before they become readily available.

The background on my card was created with two different patterns of Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper.  I sponged the edges with Lost Lagoon ink, then matted them on a piece of Silver Foil Sheet, and onto a Lost Lagoon card base.

The focal panel on my card is a Lost Lagoon die-cut arch, on which I've stamped a few images.  I stamped the row of trees, using the Forever Forest stamp set and Versamark ink, then white heat-embossed them.  Using Versamark ink, I stamped some "ground" beneath the trees, and some snowy speckles above the trees.

The sentiment, from the Merriest Trees stamp set, was stamped in Versamark ink, after leaving the background stamping to dry.  I sprinkled silver embossing powder over the sentiment, and melted it with my heat tool.

A strip of Silver Foil Sheet was adhered between the two die-cut arches, and Lost Lagoon Faceted Gems added.

As you can see in this close-up photo, some of the background "snow" was not quite dry when I stamped the sentiment, so silver embossing powder stuck to a few patches.  I rather like the subtle result.

The embellishments added to the main panel are Clear Ribboned Adhesive-Backed Dots.  The Lost Lagoon arch is matted on a slightly larger arch, die-cut from Basic White card.

On this photo, you can better see the white-embossed tree detail, the subtle stamping to ground them, and the beautiful pierced detail around the edges of the Everyday Arches die-cuts.

Using the Dark Lost Lagoon Stampin' Blends marker, I coloured a length of Pool Party Pompom Ribbon.  After knotting it, I laid it across my card front, securing it with Tear & Tape adhesive.  The ribbon was wrapped around the Silver Foil layer, before everything was stuck down to the card base.  I added a Mini Glue Dot underneath the knot, to keep it in place more securely.

Inside the card, I added a Basic White piece of card, on which I'd stamped (full strength and second-generation stamping) trees, using an individual tree stamp from Forever Forest.

HOC WEEK 16: STAMPIN' UP! MERRIEST TREES CHRISTMAS CARD

 

After a break last week, for a trip to New Zealand, I'm back to share a card for this week's Heart of Christmas blog hop.

The Merriest Trees stamp set and co-ordinating dies have been a bit neglected by me, in favour of new products, so I decided to show them a bit of love.  I have teamed them with the beautiful Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Usually I photograph my cards with a camera, but decided to use my phone this time.  I'm not really happy with the way the colours translate to my blog, so I'll be reverting to the usual method for future blog posts!

To a Thick Basic White card base, I adhered a layer of Lost Lagoon card.  The main panel is a piece of Pretty Peacock DSP, from the Season of Elegance pack.  I stamped little stars all over it, using white craft ink (and a soft touch, to give a subtle impression).  Another strip of Season of Elegance DSP, with both Pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon colouring, was adhered to the bottom of this piece.  I sponged the edges with Pretty Peacock ink, then layered it onto the Lost Lagoon mat.

I stamped the tree detail directly onto a piece of gold foiled Lost Lagoon DSP, using Versamark ink.  I then gold heat-embossed the foliage detail, and die cut the tree.

The sentiment was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink on Lost Lagoon card.  I used a Peaceful Season Die to cut it out.  I love the details in this label die.

Using Mini Glue Dots, I added a bow made from Pretty Peacock & Gold Metallic Ribbon.

The gifts at the base of the tree were die-cut from Festive Glimmer Paper and Season of Elegance Specialty DSP.  I gold heat-embossed a couple of bows on Basic White card, and cut them out with the co-ordinating dies.  The tiny bows were cut (one from Cherry Cobbler card, and two from Gold Foil Sheet) using a Decorative Trees Die.

I was tempted to add some red gems to my card, but decided to leave the pop of contrasting colour just at the bottom of the card.  I do love to use embellishments, so this was a bit of a challenge for me!  LOL.
