JAI #208: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY COLOUR CHALLENGE

This week's colour challenge, over at Just Add Ink, inspired me when I sat down to make a card for hubby.  Yesterday we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary.  We went out for a meal together - just the two of us.  I can't quite remember the last time we made time to do that, so it was a special way to mark the occasion.

Here is the very cool colour combo Mae suggested for our challenge this week:

My card, for the world's luckiest husband (ha ha), turned out like this:

Stamps: Hearts A Flutter, Morning Post Numbers, Off the Grid, Banner Blast, Express Yourself
Card: Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Calypso Coral
DSP: Pacific Point and Smoky Slate Patterns Designer Series Papers
Ink: Calypso Coral, Smoky Slate and Pacific Point stampin' pads
Other: Banners framelits, 1 3/4" Circle punch, Decorative Label punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Smoky Slate chevron ribbon, Hearts A Flutter framelits, Brights and Neutrals candy dots, sponge daubers, glue dots

Make sure you check out the awesome cards the rest of the Design Team have made, using this colour combo.  Why not play along with us?  We'd love to see what you come up with.

STAMPIN' UP!'S REV UP THE FUN : JACK IS 18!!

This time 18 years ago, I became a Mama for the first time.  Wow - where have those years gone??!!  (The lament of every mother, I'm sure.)

Because I am ridiculously detail-oriented (sounds much nicer than  "anal", don't you think?), I have scheduled this post for the exact time Jack was forced into the world!  He was almost 2 weeks overdue, and still had to be induced .... a cautiousness (reluctance?) that remains in his personality.

It's rather customary for me to make Jack a cricket-themed birthday card, but this time I'm getting some more use out of the fabulous Rev Up the Fun stamp set, as he'll be sitting his driver's licence test next week.  The car he'll be driving looks nothing like the one on the card, but he likes turquoise, so the appealing colour will just have to be enough for him!

Stamps: Rev Up the Fun, Gorgeous Grunge, Off the Grid, Express Yourself, Memorable Moments
Card: Early Espresso, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Silver Foil paper
Ink: Early Espresso, Tempting Turquoise and Crumb Cake stampin' pads, Versamark inkpad
Other: Silver and Tempting Turquoise stampin' emboss powders, Metallic brads, 1/2" Circle punch, Tasteful Trim XL Bigz die, Neutrals candy dots, sponge dauber, 1 1/4" Circle punch, 1 3/8" Circle punch, 1 1/2" Circle punch (not SU!), Label Bracket punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig, stampin' dimensionals, multipurpose liquid glue

Here's a photo of the birthday boy, at a family celebration a few days early ... his "baby", Cricket the dog, had to get in on the action (hopefully Ethan won't notice that he's been cropped out of this pic!):

STAMPIN' UP!'S REV UP THE FUN

I had a card to make for a special young man's birthday this past week (well, I should've made it a couple of weeks ago but, thankfully, family are forgiving).  It was a great chance for me to ink up my new Rev Up the Fun stamp set.  Here's what I came up with, taking the colours from the Epic Day This & That Designer Series Papers:

Stamps: Rev Up the Fun, Memorable Moments, Off the Grid, Four You
Card: Basic Gray, Whisper White
DSP: Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper
Ink: Basic Gray, Sahara Sand and Calypso Coral stampin' pads
Other: 1/2" Circle punch, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle punches, 1 1/2" Circle punch (not SU!), Stamp-a-ma-jig, sponge daubers, Brights Candy Dots, Season of Style washi tape, Epic Day This & That washi tape

JAI #182: STAMPIN' UP!'S SKETCHED BIRTHDAY

Paula has set this week's Just Add Ink challenge, and boy was it a challenge for me!  The theme this week is to "Just Add a Frame" to your papercraft project.

I made it more difficult than it needed to, by trying to create something that just wasn't "my style".  After labouring for two days over a card I really didn't like, I decided to simplify things, and go with what I know and love - a "boy" card!

This card may or may not be for a very special young man in my life (depends on whether he happens across it on my blog - I'm hoping not!).

I used Stampin' Up!'s Square Framelits to create a simple square frame for the focal stamped image.  It's simple, but so much more attractive than what I was trying to make initially (that big hot mess ended up in the rubbish)!

Stamps: Off the Grid, Memorable Moments, Sketched Birthday
Card: Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip, Watercolour Paper
DSP: Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper
Ink: Timber Brown Staz-On inkpad (not SU!), Chocolate Chip stampin' pad and marker, Soft Sky stampin' pad and marker, Soft Suede marker, Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango markers
Other: Square Framelits, Naturals Designer button, Subtles button, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle punches, Natural cotton ribbon, Soft Sky seam binding, Linen Thread, blender pens, sponge daubers, glue dots

Make sure you check out the AMAZING samples that the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team have created for this week's challenge.  We look forward to having you join in the fun, too!
