AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 44: SAHARA SAND

This week's Colour Creations Showcase, hosted by Cathy Proctor, is focussing on Sahara Sand.  Cathy has on her blog a comprehensive list of all participants in this week's share.  Sahara Sand is a neutral that I would normally use as a card base ... but I was challenged, using it as my focal colour!

I have defaulted to my comfort zone, of masculine cards, for this week's colour.  I've just added the Mountain Air bundle to my craft collection, so that's what I decided to use for my Sahara Sand creation, adding Basic Black into the mix.

The stamps in the Mountain Air bundle are reversible.  I stamped the row of trees, using the reverse side of the stamp, in Sahara Sand ink onto Sahara Sand card.  I then cleaned the stamp, flipped it over and stamped the etched detailed side in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Using the Stitched Shapes Dies, I cut a square piece from my stamped card.  I matted this on a scalloped square of Sahara Sand Designer Series Paper, cut with a Layering Squares Die.  The background paper on my card (woodgrain patterned Designer Series Paper) has been stamped, top and bottom, with the detailed side of the tree stamp, and Sahara Sand ink.

There are actually two die-cut trees on this card.  I placed one behind the scalloped square, and adhered the second over the top (and slightly offset, but clearly not enough!) once the layers were all stuck down.

I first tried stamping the sentiment, from the Rustic Retreat stamp set, in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Sahara Sand card.  I wasn't happy with the (lack of) intensity of colour I achieved, so ended up stamping the sentiment in Versamark ink, and heat-embossing it with black embossing powder.  Black Stampin' Emboss Powder will return to Stampin' Up!'s range on 4th May.

Listed below are the current Stampin' Up! products I used to make this card.  If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.

Make sure you hop on over to Cathy's blog, to see her Sahara Sand creation, and the list of all other participants.

I will have another card, using some of these same products, to share with you tomorrow.

STAMPIN' UP! WHALE OF A TIME BIRTHDAY CARD FOR PP510

This week's challenge at The Paper Players is to create a project using this sketch:

I'm making it a mission this month to create cards with some of Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Papers that are on special.  One of my favourites is Whale of A Time; such beautiful colours and patterns.  When flicking through the papers, I was quite taken with the turtle that features on my card.  His shell is beautiful, and I rather like his facial expression!

Here's a closer view of the little guy, and the beautiful papers.  The only stamping on my card is the sentiment.  I have sponged the edges of most of the paper panels, using ink to co-ordinate with the paper colours.  Artistry Blooms sequins add a bit of sparkle and shine (I was thinking air bubbles ... does that work?).

Although at first I was a little intimidated by all the layers in the sketch, I had a lot of fun with it - thanks, Joanne!

The products I have used to make this card are listed below, and are available to purchase from my online store, if you live in Australia.  If you would like to shop with me, you can get to my store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.

AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 17: GARDEN GREEN

This week our Colour Creations Showcase, co-ordinated by Catherine Proctor, is focussing on Garden Green.  Cathy has a comprehensive list on her blog of everyone participating in this week's share, so please check it out, and visit all of our blogs!  We hope to inspire you to create with all of Stampin' Up!'s colours, and as such we're working our way through the colour offerings in alphabetical order throughout the year.

I have pulled out the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper that carried over from last Christmas, as it is a bit of a challenge for me to use ... and I'm going through a phase of challenging myself creatively.  The Toile Tidings papers contain patterns in Garden Green, Real Red and Very Vanilla.  I have paired one of the Garden Green animal-patterned papers with Rustic Retreat, to make a somewhat masculine, "woodsy", Christmas card.

After stamping the log cabin image on Very Vanilla card, using Early Espresso ink, I coloured it with Crumb Cake and Garden Green Stampin' Write markers.  I then ran the strip of Very Vanilla card through one of the Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folders.  I love the extra texture it adds to the cabin, and its roof and stone chimney:

I've listed below the products used to make this card.  They are available for purchase from my online store, for Australian residents.  If you would like to shop with me for your papercraft supplies, you can get to my store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.

Make sure you go to Cathy's blog to see the list of everyone taking part in this week's share.  We hope you enjoy our creations.

I made a second card with the Toile Tidings papers; I'll be sharing that on my blog tomorrow.
