STAMPIN' UP! HEARTFELT HEXAGON BIRTHDAY CARD

After I'd made my card for this week's Colour Creations blog hop, featuring Early Espresso, I had a flash of inspiration to use these colours together:

Ever since I saw the new Heartfelt Hexagon punch (an online release, ahead of the next Stampin' Up! Mini Catalogue coming out in January), I've had the idea of creating a background with it.  I love the retro look of this simple, graphic, design:

Using the Sketched Plaid background stamp, I stamped a card-front sized panel each of Early Espresso, Lemon Lime Twist and Pumpkin Pie card, in the same coloured inks.  I punched out several of each colour, using the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch.  LOVING the shape of this punch!

On a piece of Basic White card, I arranged the punched pieces, allowing some to hang over the edge of the white card when they were glued down.  I trimmed the overhanging pieces, and mounted the panel on a slightly larger piece of Basic White card, then an Early Espresso card base.

I was able to use the leftover stamped pieces to die-cut stars, using a Beautiful Balloons Die.  I sponged the edges of the stars, with ink matching the card colours, before adding them to my card front.

The sentiment, from Artistically Inked, was stamped in Versamark ink on Early Espresso card.  White embossing powder was sprinkled over the stamped image, and melted with a heat tool.  I used a Labels Aglow Die to cut out the heat-embossed sentiment.

Inside the card, I added a Basic White card panel.  I rounded a couple of the corners with a (long-retired) corner rounder punch, and added a couple more die-cut stars.  I didn't sponge the edges of these stars, as they don't need to stand out against a stamped background.

STAMPIN' UP! BEAUTIFUL BALLOONS BIRTHDAY CARD FEATURING DAFFODIL DELIGHT

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Daffodil Delight, a sunny yellow that has been in Stampin' Up!'s Brights collection for as long as I can remember.

I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone a little, and use a colour combination suggested by my very old Color Coach:

It's been a minute since I made a card with Beautiful Balloons, which was the first stamp set I had to have from this year's Annual Catalogue.  Here's what I came up with, using this colour combination:

Using the Brights 6"x6" Designer Series Paper pack, I stamped lots of little stars directly onto a piece of Daffodil Delight polka-dot patterned paper.  The star stamp is from the Alphabest stamp set, and I used Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy and Old Olive inks.

I matted this paper onto Night of Navy card, then Basic White card, before all the layers were mounted onto an Old Olive card base.

The sentiment (one of my favourite for birthdays, from the Artistically Inked stamp set) was stamped in Night of Navy ink on Basic White card.  I added some tiny die-cut stars in all three colours, courtesy of Forever Forest Dies.

Before I adhered the sentiment to my card front, I laid a piece of Old Olive ribbon across the card.  This ribbon started off as Lemon Lolly Sheer Ribbon, but I coloured it with my Dark Old Olive Stampin' Blends marker.

I'm not a huge fan of Daffodil Delight, but I think the big balloon in this colour is extra-cheery!  It's flanked by smaller balloons in Night of Navy and Old Olive.

From Daffodil Delight card, I cut two larger stars using Beautiful Balloons Dies.  After embossing them with the Metal Plate 3D embossing folder, I sponged the edges with Daffodil Delight ink.

To the inside of the card, I added a Basic White layer, embellished with a few more die-cut stars:
