STAMPIN' UP! TRUE LOVE CARD IN ROCOCO ROSE

I have enjoyed a bit of colouring, of some True Love Designer Series Paper, and have a card to share with you tonight.  After colouring some roses with Flirty Flamingo and Rococo Rose Stampin' Blends, and leaves with Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends, I cut out the panel using an Ornate Layers Die.

My card base is Rococo Rose, and onto that I adhered a Basic White card piece, embossed with the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder.  A piece of spotty paper from the Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper pack provides the backdrop to my die-cut focal panel.

The sentiment, from Here's A Card, was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and cut out using an Ornate Frames Die.  A slightly bigger Ornate Frames Die was used to cut a piece of Rococo Rose card, that I then embossed with the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder, to tie in with the white background.

In this photo you can see the embossed background a little closer.  I added some Woven Threads Sequins to the card, to finish off.

STAMPIN' UP! BUTTERFLY BEAUTY PINK & GREY CARD

 I cut one of the larger flutters of butterflies (did you know that's one of the names, for a group of butterflies?!), from the Butterfly Beauty Dies, out of Rainbow Glimmer Paper in pinks and purples.  The glimmery butterfly outlines were then adhered to another Whisper White butterfly die cut, providing more detail in the wings.

I rather like the look of austere Basic Gray against the bold glimmery butterflies.  I've used two different Designer Series Papers - Peony Garden, for the top portion, and Neutrals 6"x6" DSP for the bottom.

I stamped the sentiment, from Here's A Card, in Melon Mambo ink on a piece of Whisper White card, then cropped it with the smallest scalloped square in the Layering Squares dies.  How cute is it?!  It's only 2cm square.  I cut a slightly larger mat layer, in Basic Black card.  The Metallic Sequins I used on my card are retired, but I decided silver was a good choice against the Basic Gray background.

AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 15: EARLY ESPRESSO

 

We're already 15 weeks into our efforts to showcase every Stampin' Up! colour, working through the list alphabetically!  I am loving taking part in these weekly Colour Creations Showcases, organised by Catherine Proctor.  It's a great challenge to use colours in a variety of ways.  This week the star of the show is Early Espresso, a beautiful, rich, dark brown.  I am particularly drawn to the Neutrals range, and love earthy colours, so enjoyed this week's "challenge" (not a challenge for me!).

Do you ever dream about colour combinations, or wake during the night with creative ideas?  I know I'm not alone in this!  I keep a notepad and pen beside my bed, as quite often inspiration hits at the most inconvenient time ... I can quickly draw a card idea, a sketch, or note a colour combination, then go back to sleep.  I don't know if I dreamt up this combination, but I woke one morning with the conviction that for this week's Colour Showcase, I was going to team Early Espresso with Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay.  I decided to just run with it, and am pretty happy with the result. :)

I have used the Life is Beautiful stamp set, for the focal image.  The stamped piece was cut out with an Ornate Layers die, and mounted on some In Good Taste Designer Series Paper, that I'd embossed with the Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder.  

I stamped the sentiment, from Here's a Card, on a piece of Whisper White card, using Early Espresso ink.  The decorative border running horizontally on the sentiment strip was cut with a Field Tiles die.  I matted the white piece on some Rich Razzleberry card, then added a sweet scalloped Crumb Cake edging, created with a Stitched Be Mine die.  Can you see the strip of delicate die-cut Early Espresso hearts, underneath the main white panel?  They were cut with another Stitched Be Mine die, and some of the solid hearts were glued at the tree base.

I didn't wrap my ribbon all the way around the Early Espresso embossed panel.  I used Tear & Tape to adhere the ribbon vertically, extending down only to the sentiment panel.  A few Woven Threads sequins added a colourful finishing touch to my card.
