ART WITH HEART COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 42: ROCOCO ROSE

This week's showcase is all about Rococo Rose, one of Stampin' Up!'s In Colors that will retire from our range in early May.  Cathy Proctor hosts our weekly Colour Creations Showcases.  Make sure you visit her blog to see her beautiful creation, and to find a list of participants in this week's share ... you'll be able to visit everyone's blogs by clicking on the links.

I have stuck with "simple" for my pink creations this week.  I've used the Vine Design bundle (sadly that, too, will retire at the beginning of May) to decorate some Basic White Notecards & Envelopes.  I like to have some "thank you" notecards on hand, and these are a sweet addition to my stash.

There are three intricate doily-type dies in the Vine Design bundle; they form the basis of my designs.  I cut each background shape from Rococo Rose Designer Series Paper, adhered each one to a notecard that has a top layer of Basic White card embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder (we'll lose that, too, in May), and added stamped and die-cut flowers.  The flower stamps were inked in Blushing Bride ink, and I applied Rococo Rose ink with a sponge dauber before stamping the images onto card.  The flowers on the envelopes are all stamped in Rococo Rose ink.

Here's the first notecard, with the stamped envelope underneath.  The sentiment (from Vine Design) has been cropped using an Ornate Frames die.

The ribbon on my second card is Crinkled White Seam Binding, coloured with the Light Rococo Rose Stampin' Blends marker.  If I'd known how pretty and soft the light marker is, I would have been using it more often!  We're a bit "light on" with soft pinks in our colour range, and I love how this looks.  The sentiment on this card was cut out using a Stitched Shapes Die.  These staple dies, that I use on most of my cards, will also be retiring from Stampin' Up!'s range at the beginning of May.

On my last notecard, I added a couple of extra stamped and die-cut flowers, tucking one behind the sentiment label.  The die used to cut out the sentiment on this one is from the Stitched So Sweetly collection.

STAMPIN' UP! PATH OF PETALS SYMPATHY CARD

I started making a second card, in keeping with this past week's Rich Razzleberry focus (for the weekly Colour Creations Showcase I participate in), but got waylaid by some sad news that kept me out of my craft room for a few days.

I've now finished what I was working on, so can share my other Rich Razzleberry card.

The focal images (leaves and flowers) from the Path of Petals stamp set were stamped on Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper.  I stamped the stems and leaves in Old Olive ink, and the flowers in Rich Razzleberry ink.  I then coloured the images using Blender Pens.  I pressed the nibs of the pens into my ink pads to pick up colour; I like the deeper, velvety, colour applied to the flowers this way.

Because Fluid 100 Watercolor is not a colour match to either Basic White or Very Vanilla, I matted my main panels on a larger piece of watercolor paper, and stamped the sentiment on another piece (before die-cutting it with a Floral Gallery Die).  I used a piece of Very Vanilla card inside my card, for writing a message on.

This close-up better shows what I mean by a "velvety" look on the flowers.  I'd smudged a little ink in  a couple of spots, so added a few tiny flowers punched from Rich Razzleberry card, using the Confetti Flowers border punch.

In this photo, you can better see the Rich Razzleberry background panel, embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.  The embellishments added to my card are Fine Art Ribbon, and Gold Glitter Enamel Dots.

ART WITH HEART COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 41: RICH RAZZLEBERRY

This week's Colour Creations Showcase is all about Rich Razzleberry.  Cathy Proctor is co-ordinating the share; she has a comprehensive list on her blog of all participants this week.

According to Stampin' Up!'s Color Coach (a tool we have, to spur creativity using different colour combinations), Rich Razzleberry teams well with Smoky Slate and Balmy Blue .  I have gone with this rather unlikely colour combination, and I have to say, I love it!

I have created a cheery birthday card with the Pretty Perennials bundle.  I started off stamping and die-cutting a couple of large Rich Razzleberry flowers, then stamped and die cut a few smaller Balmy Blue flowers.  All leaves are in Smoky Slate.  The large blooms have Rich Razzleberry die-cut detail overlaid, and all flower centres have been decorated with Artistry Blooms Sequins.

In this photo, you can see a little more clearly the tone-on-tone stamping I did, on the Designer Series Papers in the background.

Here's a better shot of the sequins (they're one of my favourite embellishments, in the current Stampin' Up! catalogue):

I stamped the large "happy" in Rich Razzleberry ink on Basic White card, and fussy cut around it.  I stamped "birthday" in Balmy Blue ink on another scrap of Basic White card, and trimmed it to size.  I tucked the "h" of the fussy cut sentiment underneath the stitched scalloped border, cut using a Stitched Be Mine die.
