JAI #284: STAMPIN' UP! ENGLISH GARDEN FLOWER PATCH CARD

Our Just Add Ink challenge this week, set by Di, is to create a FANCY FOLD CARD.

Now, I don't ever get too "fancy" with my card making.  I'm pretty strictly an A5-sized card girl, mostly 'tent fold' (with the fold at the top), but sometimes conventional side fold.  That's about the extent of my mixing it up!

I have, however, stepped outside of my comfort zone.  Not too far, mind you; the card I've made is a very simple one.  It's called a "Z-Fold card", and I found a tutorial here:  http://beccysplace.blogspot.com.au/2011/06/technique-class-z-fold-card.html

This type of card is a great canvas for showcasing Designer Series Papers.  I've used a couple of designs from Stampin' Up!'s English Garden paper pack.

Here's the front of the card:

.... and the inside panel on which a message can be written:

Given the rather large size of the card (it was made using an A4 piece of card), I custom-made an envelope with my trusty Envelope Punch Board.  Love that you can create an envelope to suit, in just minutes.

Listed below are all the Stampin' Up! products used to make this card.  If you are in Australia, and would like to buy any of the items yourself, just click on a thumbnail image, and you'll be taken direct to my online store.

JAI #273: A STAMPIN' UP! COLOUR CHALLENGE

Rochelle has come up with a rather challenging colour challenge for us at Just Add Ink this week!

Take a look at this combo:

I have to say I love these colours together; I just struggled when it came to teaming a light grey with a browny kraft.  In the end, I was pretty happy with how I managed to incorporate all these colours on a card, though ... I went for what I think is an elegant look.

The washi tape with the little crosses on is retired, but all other Stampin' Up! products used to make this card are listed below.  You can buy them from my online store, by clicking on the thumbnail images. :)

Be sure to check out the gorgeous creations of the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team.  We would love to see what you come up with , with this colour combination, so please link up your card or scrapbook page to our Just Add Ink blog.

JAI #267: STAMPIN' UP! BABY CARD USING TYPOGRAPHY

This week at Just Add Ink, Di has set us the challenge to Just Add TypographyHere's what I found on Wikipedia:

"Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language readable and appealing. The arrangement of type involves selecting typefaces, point size, line length, line-spacing (leading), letter-spacing (tracking), and adjusting the space within letters pairs (kerning)."

I decided upon using a collection of different fonts, to create the focal point of my card.  I used so many stamp sets to make this card!!  I have listed them all at the bottom of my post ... it does make me laugh that I told my husband that this card-making caper would save so much money (rather than buying cards)!  I just went through my stamp collection, and used a variety of stamps that were relevant for a baby card.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team creations; and we'd love to have you play along with us!
