STAMPIN' UP! TRUE BEAUTY CARD IN MANGO MELODY

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Mango Melody, a yellowy-orange that I VERY seldom use.  I enjoyed making this happy card ... Mango Melody is a colour that can really lift the spirits, don't you think?

I had a lot of fun creating the background panel.  Starting off with a piece of Hues of Happiness DSP (in tones of Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody), I applied Mango Melody ink with a Blending Brush, using an Artistic Mix Decorative Mask.  I then added a faux-stitched border, using a Stitchery stamp and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The Stamparatus made it easy to line up this long stamp across, and along, the paper.  I finished the background piece by sponging Mango Melody ink around the edges.

I inked up one of the flowers from the True Beauty stamp set, in Mango Melody ink, and stamped it on Mango Melody card.  After doing this twice, I stamped the same flower in Versamark ink on Mango Melody card, and white heat-embossed it.  The stems and leaves were stamped in Granny Apple Green ink on Granny Apple Green card, three times.   All of these pieces were cut out with the co-ordinating dies, and I used Paper Snips to trim a leaf from the middle stem.

Black & White Gingham Ribbon was used to create the bow that adorns the bunch of flowers, and Classic Matte Dots were added to finish off.

The sentiment, from Very Best Occasions, was stamped on Mango Melody card in Versamark ink, and black heat-embossed.  I cut out the sentiment using a Labels Aglow Die, and subtly added Mango Melody ink with a Blending Brush.

STAMPIN' UP! GRASSY GROVE BIRTHDAY CARD IN BASIC GRAY

The colour we're focussing on, for this week's Colour Creations blog hop, is Basic Gray.  This is Stampin' Up!'s darkest grey, and perfect for my favourite type of card - masculine.  I have paired Basic Gray with Soft Succulent, and incorporated lots of layers and texture.

The torn notepad-paper piece, along with the Soft Succulent stars, is from the He's The Man Designer Series Paper pack.  There are two sheets of great die-cuts in the pack.

Using Basic Gray ink, and my Stamparatus, I stamped the sentiment (from Biggest Wish) directly onto the note paper die cut.  I also stamped some stitched detail, courtesy of the Stitchery stamp set.  After sponging the edges of the paper with Basic Gray ink, I adhered the focal piece to a panel of Basic Gray DSP (from the Neutrals 6"x6" collection).  This paper was also sponged around the edges.

For the background, I used a woodgrain-patterned paper, from the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper pack.  I sponged the edges in Basic Gray ink, adhered it to a Soft Succulent card mat, and layered it on a Basic Gray card panel that I'd embossed with the Timber 3D embossing folder.

I embellished my card with some diamond/argyle pieces, cut from Basic Gray card using All That Dies.  Classic Matte Dots added a finishing touch.

Across the front of the card, I adhered a piece of Soft Succulent card on which I'd stamped some landscape from the Grassy Grove stamp set (using Basic Gray ink).  Again I used the Stitchery stamp ... it looks a little like a path, don't you think?  I stamped the deer in Basic Gray ink on Basic Gray card, and used Grove Dies to cut out both the deer and the top of the Soft Succulent stamped panel.

The diamond shapes at the bottom of the card front were cut with Paper Snips from a second die-cut like the one at the top.
