Tonight I am taking part, with some of my Stampin' Up! friends, in a Colour Creations Showcase. The share is co-ordinated by Catherine Proctor; she has a list on her blog of all participants. We'd love for you to visit all our blogs, and leave some comment love, as we hope to inspire you to work with Stampin' Up!'s gorgeous colours. Tonight's creations are all based on Blushing Bride - our soft, dusky, pink.
I have made a card for my darling daughter-in-law, who is a shining light in my life. I've used this beautiful colour combination:
The focal point of the card is a Blushing Bride wreath, to which I've attached a few little die-cut flowers and gold foil sprigs. Creating the background for the wreath was a lot of fun. On a piece of Very Vanilla card, I repeatedly stamped the filigree (?) image, from Tasteful Touches, in Blushing Bride ink. I wanted it to be faint, and irregular, so after inking the stamp, I stamped it off on scrap paper four times before stamping it onto the card. I repeated this process lots of times! I've done the same on the sentiment panel. I wanted some subtle gold embossed flecks on the background. To achieve this, I applied one drop of Versamark (clear) ink refill to an acrylic block (to use as a palette). Using my Water Painter, I squeezed a little water onto the block, and mixed it with the Versamark ink, to make it a little thinner. I then flicked this thinned mixture over the card, using the brush tip of my Water Painter. Gold embossing powder stuck to those splatters, and I melted the powder with my heat tool.
I also ran my Versamark inkpad around the edges of the Very Vanilla panel, sprinkled gold embossing powder over the ink, and heat embossed it. Here's a closer look at some of the gold flecks, and one of the edges:
This sentiment, from the Strong & Beautiful stamp set, was perfect to include on the inside of the card:
I really enjoyed playing with Blushing Bride, and created another card ... which I'll share with you tomorrow.
In the meantime, please visit Cathy's blog, and go on to check out everyone's beautiful creations!
