STAMPIN' UP! SENDING LOVE BIRTHDAY CARD IN LEMON LIME TWIST

 

In his week's Colour Creations blog hop, we are showcasing is  Lemon Lime Twist, a bright and happy yellowy-green in Stampin' Up!'s Brights collection.

I chose a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Flowering Zinnias DSP pack, as my starting point for the background.  The pack includes patterned papers in Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive and Melon Mambo, which provided colour inspiration.  Here's what I made, using the sweet Sending Love stamps and co-ordinating dies:

To decorate the top right and bottom left corners, I tore small pieces of the Melon Mambo floral paper, and sponged the straight edges with Melon Mambo ink.  The hearts were stamped in Melon Mambo ink on Basic White card, and die-cut.  I really like the white edges that help them to pop, and that tie in with the white core of the paper.

The main images were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and coloured with Stampin' Blends.  I used Crumb Cake to colour the post and letterbox base, and Old Olive for the flag on the letterbox.  After stamping the letterbox on a scrap of the Lemon Lime Twist DSP (the same as the background), I fussy-cut it and coloured over it using Lemon Lime Twist Stampin' Blends.  I then glued it over the letterbox stamped on the Basic White card.

The bird was coloured with Melon Mambo Stampin' Blends.  I added a Lemon Lime Twist Tinsel Gem, and a white baker's twine bow, to the letterbox.

The sentiment is from the Friends For Life stamp set.  Using Lemon Lime Twist ink, I stamped it six times (reinking each time) to get the depth of colour I wanted.  I cut it out using a Perennial Postage Die, and matted the label on a slightly larger piece of Lemon Lime Twist card that I'd sponged the edges of with Lemon Lime Twist ink.

The second bird was coloured with Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.  I die-cut the bushes from Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive cardstock.  I really love the look of the glassy Tinsel Gems on this card.

I sponged the edges of the background paper with Lemon Lime Twist ink, before matting it on Old Olive card.

STAMPIN' UP! SENDING LOVE BIRTHDAY CARD IN PETAL PINK

 

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Petal Pink.  I moan about this colour sometimes, because I don't particularly like the orange undertones, but I love how my card turned out.  I have had some more fun with the Sending Love bundle, that I used for my Colour Creations card last week.

I've used a little creative licence, to have a Petal Pink cloudy sky background (courtesy of Lighter Than Air Designer Series Paper).  I sponged the DSP panel with Petal Pink ink, around the edges, before matting it on a layer of Petal Pink card.

Using Petal Pink ink, I stamped what I think of as the "airmail" stamp down the left-hand side of the cloudy DSP.  In Basic Gray ink on Petal Pink card, I stamped the cluster of hearts, and die-cut them, before adding them to the "airmail" strip.  Please excuse the gluey remnants around the hearts ... I'll be cleaning those up, now that I can see them in my photos!

I used the Stippled Roses stamp set for the long sentiment.  After stamping it in Versamark ink on Basic Gray card, I white heat-embossed it.  I cut it out using the longer sentiment label from the Sending Dies collection, and snipped off the left-hand end to sit flush with the front of my card.

The round sentiment was stamped in Basic Gray ink on Basic White card.  I coloured the hearts with Petal Pink Stampin' Blends markers.  The little bird was coloured with Pool Party Stampin' Blends (and with a touch of Pumpkin Pie on its beak, thanks to the fine tip of the Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write marker).  

I stamped the mailbox in Basic Gray ink on Basic White card, and coloured it using Stampin' Blends in Petal Pink, Pool Party and Smoky Slate.  I also used the Color Lifter to add a slightly weathered look to the post and the inside of the mailbox.

The cute little envelope was stamped in Basic Gray ink on a scrap of Sunny Days Designer Series Paper (a Sale-A-Bration freebie), then die cut.  I sponged the edges with Petal Pink ink, and added a Pool Party Adhesive-Backed Heart.

Below the mailbox, I added a bush die-cut from Granny Apple Green card, and some Parakeet Party grass.  I couldn't resist adding some sweet Adhesive-Backed Flowers (from the same pack as the heart adorning the envelope).
