In his week's Colour Creations blog hop, we are showcasing is Lemon Lime Twist, a bright and happy yellowy-green in Stampin' Up!'s Brights collection.
I chose a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Flowering Zinnias DSP pack, as my starting point for the background. The pack includes patterned papers in Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive and Melon Mambo, which provided colour inspiration. Here's what I made, using the sweet Sending Love stamps and co-ordinating dies:
To decorate the top right and bottom left corners, I tore small pieces of the Melon Mambo floral paper, and sponged the straight edges with Melon Mambo ink. The hearts were stamped in Melon Mambo ink on Basic White card, and die-cut. I really like the white edges that help them to pop, and that tie in with the white core of the paper.
The main images were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and coloured with Stampin' Blends. I used Crumb Cake to colour the post and letterbox base, and Old Olive for the flag on the letterbox. After stamping the letterbox on a scrap of the Lemon Lime Twist DSP (the same as the background), I fussy-cut it and coloured over it using Lemon Lime Twist Stampin' Blends. I then glued it over the letterbox stamped on the Basic White card.
The bird was coloured with Melon Mambo Stampin' Blends. I added a Lemon Lime Twist Tinsel Gem, and a white baker's twine bow, to the letterbox.
The second bird was coloured with Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends. I die-cut the bushes from Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive cardstock. I really love the look of the glassy Tinsel Gems on this card.
I sponged the edges of the background paper with Lemon Lime Twist ink, before matting it on Old Olive card.

Very fun card Christine. I love the Melon Mambo highlights in the corners with the torn pieces. That tiny bow on the letterbox is very cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous color combination, Christine! I love the way you've used this DSP on your card with the torn edges and agled placements. Your two little birds and the bow on the letterbox are so sweet. And yes, the glassy Tinsel Gems look great!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful Birthday Card Christine. I love your colour combo - especially LLT with Melon Mambo. The torn DSP in the corners is so good and the special touches - the little birds, the bushes and hearts are delightful. xxx
