This week's Colour Creations blog hop, involving a group of us (all Stampin' Up! demonstrators) from Australia, is all about Highland Heather. This beautiful soft purple sits in Stampin' Up!'s Subtles colour family.
The Simply Zinnia Dies are the star of the show on my card. The only stamping is the sentiment. I feel like this card shows off how beautifully Stampin' Up!'s colours and products work together.
The gorgeous background paper (from the Subtles 6"x6" Designer Series Paper pack) was cut 5mm smaller than the Thick Basic White card base. Using Thick Basic White card and a Lifetime of Love Die, I cut the decorative oblong shape that is the centrepiece of my card. I removed the thin outer border, to colour the foliage with my Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends Markers, then inlaid the middle piece back into the frame.
The sentiment, from Simply Said, was stamped in Highland Heather ink. I re-inked and stamped it six times to get the depth of colour I wanted, as Highland Heather ink is very soft and subtle when stamped only once.
I cut several zinnias from Highland Heather and Basic White card. To the Basic White flowers, I applied Highland Heather ink with a Blending Brush. (I also did this to the three white flower centres.) There is Highland Heather ink on the Highland Heather die-cut flowers as well, but it barely shows.
The bow is made from white baker's twine, that I coloured using the Dark Highland Heather Stampin' Blends Marker. Mini Glue Dots were used to adhere the bow to the sentiment panel.
Here's a close-up of some of the details on the card front:
Highland Heather Fine Shimmer Gems are a beautiful embellishment, and I think ideal for a floral card. I photographed this on an angle, hoping to capture the shimmer of the flower centres, that I painted with my Wink of Stella pen, but I wasn't too successful!

Snap! Christine, I love your Highland Heather zinnias. That tiny bow is the cutest! That would have required lots of patience, and to colour the twine too, amazing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning effect you've achieved with the blending on your zinnia petals, Christine! This is such a soft and feminine card with so many different elements that truely celebrate and showcase Highland Heather.
ReplyDeleteOh what a stunner - this is just gorgeous and so feminine, Christine. The way you have coloured those zinnias is beautiful, the twine bow is cute as, and the pop of GAG is tremendous!
