STAMPIN' UP! FREE AS A BIRD FRIENDSHIP CARD IN CRUSHED CURRY

It's Colour Creations blog hop time again, when a group of us from Australia share cards made with Stampin' Up! products.  We are working our way through the Stampin' Up! colour range in alphabetical order, and this week it is the turn of Crushed Curry to be the focus.

Crushed Curry is a bold, rich, yellow that tends towards mustard when saturated.

I have pulled out my neglected Free As A Bird stamp set for tonight's challenge, and watercoloured the images in colours suggested by Stampin' Up! - Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral and Garden Green.

I started off by stamping my background, using the Knit Together background stamp (inked in Crushed Curry), on a piece of Crushed Curry card.  I applied the ink to the stamp with a Blending Brush, and rather like the slightly blurred stamped image that was the result.  Using a Blending Brush, I then blended ink around the edges of that stamped panel.

The main image was stamped in StazOn Jet Black ink, on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.  I used a Water Painter, and ink pooled in the lids of my ink pads, to colour the image in the colours mentioned above.  I used Soft Suede for the branch, and a light wash of Pool Party around the birds and branch.  A Scalloped Contours Die was used to cut out the focal image.

A bow made from the beautiful white ribbon in the Flowers For Every Season ribbon combo pack helps to soften the boldness of the background.  I added some Crushed Curry resin dots, too.

The sentiment, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a piece of Crushed Curry card, was cut out using the Messages Die.  I lightly blended some Crushed Curry ink around the edges of the die cut, using a Blending Brush.

AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS BLOG HOP - WEEK 5: BLACKBERRY BLISS

Tonight I am taking part in a blog hop with some Stampin' Up! friends, showcasing Blackberry Bliss.

I had a stamped and die-cut piece left over after creating last week's Colour Creations card, so have incorporated it in this week's card (in an effort to not be as wasteful as I tend to be with "leftovers").  It's the Crumb Cake panel, stamped with white leaves.  Unusually for me, I've made a large square card - it's 14.5cm square.

I have teamed Blackberry Bliss, a seldom-used colour in my repertoire, with a stamp set I have barely used - Timeless Tulips.  I adore tulips, and really like the dramatic look of very dark purple tulips, so that's what I have created.  The flowers, leaves and stems on my card were all stamped on Shimmery White card.  Starting with the tulips, I inked up the stamp each time in Blackberry Bliss ink, spritzed it lightly with water, then stamped it onto the card.  I was going for an irregular watercoloured look, and like how they turned out.  I employed the same technique for the leaves and stems, but using Mossy Meadow ink.

Here's a close-up of the flowers, and the embossed circle behind them.  I used the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder on a circle of Shimmery White card:

The sentiment was stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink, on a scrap of Shimmery White card, and cut out using a Tasteful Labels Die.  I raised it up on Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  The bow that holds my bouquet together was made from double thickness of Blackberry Bliss Striped Ribbon.  A few Silver & Clear Epoxy Essential embellishments were added to finish off the card.

Next up on tonight's blog hop is Caroline Manwaring.   Click on the graphic below to hop on over to her blog, to see her lovely Blackberry Bliss creation.
