STAMPIN' UP! BANNER YEAR CARD FOR PP511

When I first saw this week's challenge at The Paper Players, I thought I'd sit it out.  We don't celebrate, or send cards, for Autumn (as we call Fall in the Southern Hemisphere) ... and I wasn't sure I'd be able to incorporate one of these animals on a card.  Then I remembered I have the Banner Year stamp set, which includes a teeny tiny squirrel image ... and I have the beautiful Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper ... so, happily, I was able to create something after all.

Using the stitched rectangle die from Ornate Layers Dies, I cut six strips of patterned paper, that I lay across the front of a Crumb Cake card base.  The papers are so pretty on their own, I didn't want to add too much detail to the card, so have kept it cute and simple!  The squirrel, acorns, and sentiment on my card are all from the Banner Year stamp set.  I've used Stitched Nested Labels Dies to cut out the Very Vanilla and Mint Macaron panels.  After stamping the sentiment on a scrap of Very Vanilla card, I cut it out with a sweet scalloped stitched heart from Stitched Be Mine Dies.

The bow treatment was a bit of a happy discovery.  I wanted to use Mint Macaron basket weave ribbon, but found it a bit too wide and bulky for my card (especially since the squirrel is so little!).  I cut a length of the ribbon in half lengthways, intending to use the narrower piece to make my bow.  However, the ribbon frayed, and divided into lots of really soft strands ... so, I went with that, and tied a bow - and I love it!

Thanks, Claire, for your challenge to include a "Fall Critter" on a project  ... mine may be tiny, but he's there, front and centre!

Listed below are all the products I used to make this card.  They are available to purchase from my online store, if you live in Australia.  If you would like to shop with me for Stampin' Up! products, you can get to my store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.
