AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 21: HIGHLAND HEATHER

This week's Colour Creations Showcase, co-ordinated by Cathy Proctor, is focussing on Highland Heather.   I don't tend to use purples a lot on my cards, so it's a good challenge for me!

When searching the internet for suggested colour combinations including Highland Heather, I came across this one:

Crumb Cake is my go-to neutral, and I find Sahara Sand a bit grey sometimes, so wasn't sure how this was going to work - but I rose to the challenge!  I have to say, the stamping I've done in Sahara Sand does look to my eye like Crumb Cake - but I promise it's not.

My card design started with some circles, from the Swirly Frames stamp set, stamped on Very Vanilla card.  I overlapped the circles, then cut masks from Post-it Notes, to place over the top.  With the masks in place, I stamped the Stacked Stone background stamp, also in Sahara Sand ink, over the card panel.  Removing the masks, I flicked the brush tip of my Dark Highland Heather Stampin' Blends marker in the two circles that I have placed the birds in.  I stamped a partial branch, in Soft Suede ink, in each of those two circles.

Using Highland Heather ink, I stamped two sentiments, from the Free As A Bird stamp set, in the top and bottom circles.  The branches, birds, and hearts are all from the Birds & Branches bundle.  Once I had done all my stamping, and before I adhered the die-cut birds to the branches, I embossed the Very Vanilla panel with the Scripty 3D embossing folder.

The stamping, splatters, and embossing can all be seen clearly in this photo.  I used the bullet tip of my Dark Soft Suede Stampin' Blends to make the birds' eyes stand out:

I stamped the sentiments before embossing the card with the Scripty 3D embossing folder:

My ribbon treatment consists of a bow of Purple Tricolor Ribbon, with a Linen Thread bow affixed on top:
