STAMPIN' UP! MASCULINE BIRTHDAY CARD FOR PP507

This week's challenge at The Paper Players was made for me!

Masculine cards are my favourite type of card to make.  I'm sharing a few on my blog this week, as it so happens.  When I started out on my path to creating a card for Jaydee's challenge, I thought I'd use the Whale of A Time Designer Series Papers.  That prompted me to have a bit of watercolour play, with these colours:

I wet a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, and used my Water Painter with the widest brush to apply all three colours in horizontal sections.  When the ink had dried, I used the finest tip Water Painter to flick ink, of the same colours, over the watercoloured piece.  I was happy with the end result, and that became the background of my card, causing me to abandon the idea of using Designer Series Paper!

Whilst having a play with watercolouring, I created a few panels using these colours.  Another piece that had heavily blended Granny Apple Green and Pretty Peacock inks was used for the die-cut "Happy" overlay on my card.  After watercolouring that piece, I dry-embossed it with the Seabed 3D embossing folder ... but the impressions were flattened somewhat when I then die cut the word and stitched borders.

I stamped balloons in all three colours, on the corresponding coloured pieces of watercoloured paper.  The balloon strings are (now retired) solid Whisper White Baker's Twine, coloured with the Dark Black Stampin' Blends marker.

If you squint at this sentiment close-up, you may just see a hint of the Seabed embossed texture!

I have listed below all the Stampin' Up! products (aside from the twine) used to make my card.  If you live in Australia, I'd love for you to shop with me for your papercraft supplies.  You can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.
