AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 12: CRUMB CAKE

Tonight I am taking part, with a number of friends, in a weekly Colour Creations Showcase, in which we work our way through Stampin' Up!'s colours, alphabetically.  This week's star of the show is Crumb Cake.  Catherine Proctor co-ordinates our weekly showcase, and she has on her blog a comprehensive list of everyone taking part this week.  We would love for you to visit all our blogs, to be inspired.

Ever since I discovered Stampin' Up! about 13 years ago, Crumb Cake has been my favourite colour.  It's my go-to neutral, and fits so well with most other colours in Stampin' Up!'s range.  It's not often, though, that I use Crumb Cake as the focal point of my card, so I found this week's share a good challenge!

I have used my new Life is Beautiful stamp set.  I'm a sucker for tree and leaf stamps, and the cute little bird house totally sold me on the set!  My stamped panel is a piece of Very Vanilla card that was cut with  the Celebration Labels dies (and the left-hand edge cut straight). I stamped the bare tree in Soft Suede ink (which actually stamps out darker than my Early Espresso!), then added leaves in Crumb Cake ink.  The sweet circles/bubbles, and the tiny birds either side of the bird house, were stamped in Blushing Bride ink, just for a little bit of soft contrast.

On the scalloped sentiment die-cut, I stamped some tiny hearts from The Right Triangle.  To finish my card, I added some pearls that I'd coloured with my Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends marker.

The main stamped piece is matted on some Crumb Cake cardstock that I embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder.  Using a sponge dauber, I rubbed Crumb Cake ink over the embossed design, to accentuate it a little more.  I've added a vertical strip of Crumb Cake card, die cut using the border from the Birds & More Dies, down the right-hand side of the embossed panel.

Here's a closer look at some of the lovely texture, provided by the embossed panel, the die-cut border, and the Linen Thread.  You can also see better the lovely colour variation in the stamped images:

Listed below are all the products I used to make this card.  They are available to purchase from my online store; if you live in Australia, I'd love for you to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies.  You can get to my store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.

Don't forget to check out the list on Cathy's blog of everyone taking part in tonight's Colour Creations Showcase.  Leave us some comment love, if you like what you see. :)

  3. A really sweet card, Christine. The die-cut edge border looks as though it has been embossed into the card-stock, a great effect.
