Seven weeks in, to sharing Christmas creations with Stampin' Up! products, I still have lots of Christmas cards yet to share (and still in my head!).
I recently had a birthday. I would say I "celebrated a birthday", but I was home alone, in lockdown, so it was somewhat less exciting than it might have been. Dear friends and family made sure I still had a special day. One of my birthday presents was a few new Stampin' Up! goodies, including a pack of 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum. This specialty paper is beautiful! I've used it, along with the lovely Christmas Trees Dies, on the two cards I'm sharing tonight.
I have brought out my favourite Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper for these cards. The feature colours are Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent and Sahara Sand. The Words of Cheer bundle has again come in handy, for the sentiments. Here's the first card:
For this card, I cut three Christmas trees ... one each in Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent Shimmer Vellum, and one in Soft Succulent card. On the Soft Succulent cardstock tree (the middle of the three), I repeatedly stamped a pattern from the Tasteful Touches stamp set, in Soft Succulent ink, and sponged the edges of the tree in the same coloured ink. Check out the gorgeous shimmer on the vellum trees:
My second card features a Soft Succulent vellum tree, and an Evening Evergreen cardstock tree that has been stamped and sponged in the same way as on my first card (but in the darker of the two greens).
On this card, I really like how you can see the patterned paper through the vellum tree:

Lovely cards. I really like the layering of the colours in the word Happy for the first card, and like you, the DSP pattern showing through the vellum on the second card.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Christine, those shimmery Christmas trees are delightful
ReplyDeleteYour colour combination is sensational, Christine - so very soft and elegant. This is the best use I've seen of that beautiful vellum.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards Christine and that shimmer vellum is beautiful and also love how it’s translucent too. Such a great idea using that background/patterned stamp from Tasteful Touches stamp set on your trees.
ReplyDeleteI really love the shimmery trees and have been looking at your cards for quite a while. I like both versions but I think the first one just might be my favourite. I think I am having a thing for Soft Succulent this week. Both great cards now I need these dies as well! Far out!
ReplyDeleteThe shimmery vellum trees are super pretty, and look lovely with this colour palette, Christine. I particularly like your first card with the darker patterned paper at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteI love how you got SU! goodies for your birthday. I take it you gifted them to yourself ;)Such a great way to use the vellum. Would never have thought of that! Personally I cant choose my favourite. They are both lovely.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards and I love the shimmery trees! My favourite has to be the first one with the sahara sand background.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that had a special day for your birthday, even if it wasn't what you'd wished for. You've put your birthday gift to good use with these two stunning cards!
ReplyDeleteChristine, I love the way you used the 'lacey' stamp and sponging to add 'texture' to your diecut trees. The Tidings of Christmas DSP is an absolute favourite of mine too and I love how you have used it. Your cards are both beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards and colour palette, Christine. I love the interest you created on the trees.
