AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 7: CAJUN CRAZE

Tonight I am taking part in a weekly Colour Creations Showcase, with some of my Stampin' Up! friends.  Our share is co-ordinated by Catherine Proctor, who has a comprehensive list on her blog of all the participants' blog links.  We would love for you to visit all our blogs, and leave some comment love.  This week we are focussing our creative efforts on Cajun Craze, which is somewhat of a polarising colour in Stampin' Up!'s range!  Most of us taking part in the share have never, or seldom, used this colour, so it was a great challenge.

I have recently taken delivery of some new goodies from the upcoming August-December Mini Catalogue, and was keen to use some new Designer Series Paper on my Cajun Craze creation.  This paper is called Magic in the Night, and is intended to be used for Halloween projects - but I like the dark, moody, colours and patterns.  Both the Cajun Craze background paper, and the black and white rose-patterened piece, are from this pack.

As you can see, the colour combination I chose is Cajun Craze, Basic Black and Whisper White.  The white definitely tones down the harshness of Cajun Craze.  When I inked up the "fill in" stamps for my roses, I stamped the solid image off three times onto scrap paper before applying it to my white cardstock.  The stamp that provides more shading to the petals was inked in Cajun Craze, then stamped off twice before going over the lighter layer.  I also stamped off my black ink for the leaves, and think the toning goes really nicely with the rose paper.

Listed below are all the current Stampin' Up! products I used to make this card.  (The Designer Series Paper will be available from 4th August.) If you would like to shop with me for your craft supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.  I'd love to have you shop with me, if you live in Australia, and don't already have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

Make sure you visit Cathy's blog, to see everyone else's Cajun Craze creations.  After being stuck for ideas with this colour initially, once I got creating, I ended up making three cards, so I'll share the others with you tomorrow.
