STAMPIN' UP! MERRIEST TREES CHRISTMAS CARD FEATURING GRANNY APPLE GREEN

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Granny Apple Green.  Since I'm in the throes of creating Christmas cards, I chose this colour combination for a fresh, modern take:

I used four of the Christmas tree dies to cut Granny Apple Green DSP, from the Brights 6"x6" collection.  The patterns I chose - polka dots and little lines - had white contrast to the Granny Apple Green background.  I used a Blending Brush, and Granny Apple Green ink, to colour the white patterns.  I think the tone-on-tone look is much nicer, and more versatile.  I used a sponge dauber to edge the tree die-cuts before layering them.

The tree stand/pot was cut from Poppy Parade cardstock.  I mounted the tree on a Stylish Shapes circle, and added a couple of stamped and die-cut bows.

In this photo, you can better see how I stamped the vertical strip of striped paper, using the 3-star stamp from Merriest Trees, and Granny Apple Green ink.  I matted the striped paper on some Granny Apple Green card, adhered this to the Thick Basic White card base, and added a Basic White strip alongside it.  On this Basic White panel, I added some Basic White die-cut stars (Adhesive Sheet added to the card before cutting is essential, to add these cleanly!).

The sentiment was white heat-embossed on a piece of Poppy Parade DSP (also from the Brights 6"x6" pack), that I'd blended Poppy Parade ink in the same manner as I'd used Granny Apple Green ink on the other papers.  After die-cutting this piece with one of the tree dies, I cut a second tree from Poppy Parade card.  Gluing the paper tree to the card stabilised it, for adding to the background layers.

Next up on tonight's blog hop is Andrea Sargent:

Tomorrow I will share on my blog another card, using this same colour scheme and trees cut from the same papers.

  4. Another wonderful card Christine. I love your die cut Christmas tree with the different DSPs. The contrast of this tree with the Poppy Parade tree with embossed sentiment is striking. The white on white with die cut pieces added is great. xxx
