STAMPIN' UP! BEAUTIFUL BALLOONS BIRTHDAY CARD IN HIGHLAND HEATHER

For this week's Colour Creations blog hop, we're focussing on Highland Heather, a purple in Stampin' Up!'s Subtles colour collection.

Here's the colour combination I have used:

The Beautiful Balloons bundle is one of my favourites for birthday cards.  I have teamed it with the Alphabest bundle, and Sketched Plaid background stamp.

I created the background by stamping Sketched Plaid in Highland Heather ink on Basic White card.  After adding extra lines, using a ruler and Stampin' Write Markers in Basic Gray and Fresh Freesia, I used a Blending Brush and Highland Heather ink, to colour the whole panel a lighter shade of Highland Heather.  I sponged around the edges of this layer with Highland Heather ink.

The balloons were stamped in Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia and Basic Gray ink.  I stamped "Happy Birthday" in Highland Heather ink on one of the Highland Heather balloons, intentionally making it fairly subtle, as I wanted "Celebrate" to be the focal sentiment.  When I glued the balloons to the background, I placed them so they were partially over the edges of the panel.  I trimmed the overhanging bits, then mounted this piece on a Highland Heather card layer.

I added a bow, and separated strands, of Silver 1/8" Trim, to the balloon on which I'd stamped "Happy Birthday".  The other balloons have white baker's twine added.

Using the Alphabest stamp set, I stamped 9 of the solid shapes in Highland Heather ink on Basic White card.  I then stamped the letters in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and punched out each one with the co-ordinating punch.  The punched out sentiment was mounted on a strip of Basic White card.

I added a couple of silver Festive Pearls, and some gems from the Tinsel Gems Three Pack.  Two of the Fresh Freesia gems were coloured with my Dark Highland Heather Stampin' Blends marker.

Next up on tonight's blog hop is Kate Morgan:

  3. Great card, Christine. I love seeing cards using lots of different products combined, and would you believe, I only have Alphabest Bundle and it has not been loved enough. I really like how you created the 'celebrate' sentiment using these. They way you placed and trimmed the edges off the balloons, really frames it well.

  5. Oh Christine - your delightful card has so many layers and elements. I love your plaid background with added details and the special “celebrate” treatment; as well as the way you treated the “Happy Birthday” balloon different from the others. xxx
