HOC WEEK 15: STAMPIN' UP! RINGED WITH NATURE/JOY OF CHRISTMAS CARDS

I have two Christmas cards to share with you, as part of this week's Heart of Christmas blog hop.  The Joy Of Christmas Designer Series Papers from Stampin' Up! are so beautiful.  They are the feature of my cards, and I've included some stamped images and a sentiment from the Ringed With Nature stamp set.

The starting point for my first card was cutting two of the patterned papers from the Joy of Christmas DSP pack.  I lightly sponged the edges with Pecan Pie ink (to tie in with the colour of the music-note paper), and matted the papers on a Shaded Spruce card panel.

I inked up the poinsettia stamp with Real Red ink, and used a sponge dauber to apply Cherry Cobbler ink the centre of the flower before stamping onto Basic White card.  I fussy-cut the flowers, and added a Blooming Pearl to each flower centre.  I chose to use the Garden Green coloured pearls, to tie in with the greenery on the paper whilst still throwing gold tones to complement the ribbon I used.

The sentiment is white heat-embossed on a strip of Cherry Cobbler card.

I cut two lengths of Gold 1/8" Trim, and tied a bow with them laid together.  I use glue dots to attach bows to my cards.

My second card uses just one patterned background paper, as I wanted to show off the smaller holly and pine bough designs.  I sponged the edges of the paper with Shaded Spruce ink before adhering it to a Basic White card layer.

The poinsettias for this card were stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink on Basic White card, and fussy-cut.  I added gold Blooming Pearls to the flower centres, and to the sentiment panel.

The sentiment was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink on Basic White card, and matted on a slightly larger piece of Shaded Spruce card.  In addition to the Blooming Pearls, I added a bow made with Gold 1/8" Trim.

Inside the Cherry Cobbler card, I added a Basic White panel, simply decorated with a strip of the same DSP as on the card front:

  2. Now this is fussy cutting. I love the poinsettias in the Ringed With Nature bundle but have never used them as I hate to fussy cut anything but straight lines. They work so well with this lovely DSP. And, I do love the teeny tiny gold Christine bow.

  3. Christine those poinsettias match perfectly with the chosen DSP! I love the sponged edges on your first card and the sentiment banner placed in the middle of your second card. Both lovely cards x

  4. Two gorgeous cards, Christine. I love the bright white embossed sentiment on your first card against the darker patterned papers. Then you throw in a second card, almost in reverse, wow, I love the both.
