HOC WEEK 14: STAMPIN' UP! CHRISTMAS CARDS FEATURING ONE HORSE OPEN SLEIGH DSP

Every Monday night, until 27th November, a group of us (all Stampin' Up! demonstrators in Australia) is sharing ideas for using Stampin' Up! products in your Christmas crafting.  Suddenly we have only a few weeks of blog hops left for the year ... so, I thought I'd share two cards tonight.

The One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper pack is chock-full of beautiful designs, in gorgeous colours.  On both of my cards, I have used papers from this pack, along with Grove Dies, and a sentiment from the Brightest Glow stamp set.

My first card features an old favourite Christmas colour combo, of Crumb Cake, Real Red and Basic White, teamed with Early Espresso:

I have used three different patterned papers on this card.  The panel with the sweet little deer is one piece, overlaid with a treed frame cut from another (woodgrain patterned) piece of DSP.

The red gems are from the Loose Holly Gems & Sequins.  They're attached with a dot of Liquid Glue behind each one.

The Real Red mottled paper, on which I heat-embossed the sentiment, is the third piece of patterned paper from the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP pack.  I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink, sprinkled white embossing powder on top, and melted the embossing powder with my heat tool.

The ribbon is from the Real Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo Pack.

My second card is a Wintery scene, which I seldom use for Christmas (as it's Summer in the Southern Hemisphere).  I am, however, a sucker for any papers, stamps and dies containing trees.  The colour scheme for this card is Pool Party, Early Espresso, Basic White, along with Lost Lagoon.

Again, I've used three different patterned papers from the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP pack.  You can see two of them in this photo - the Pool Party diamond-pattern, and the tree scene in dreamy muted colours behind the Basic White treed frame.

The sentiment was stamped in Lost Lagoon ink on Basic White card, and cut out using a Labels Aglow Die.

I love the intricate detail of the Pool Party paper in the background.  How nice does it look, close-up, with the texture of the Lost Lagoon Bordered Ribbon?  The Faceted Gems Trio Pack gems add even more lovely detail.

Thic close-up gives you a better look at that gorgeous background paper, along with the trees I die-cut from One Horse Open Sleigh DSP and Lost Lagoon card.  I used Forever Forest Dies to cut the trees, and Grove Dies to cut the Basic White frame that's matted on Early Espresso card.

  1. What gorgeous cards using those Grove dies, Christine. I love that startled little deer in the woods, I felt like I had to be quiet not to make it run away! Your use of designer papers in wonderful, and I adore the colours on your second card, and adding the Forever Forest trees looks amazing!

  2. Two lovely cards Christine, but I do adore card 1. It is simply the sweetest little card, and I love the cooler colour palette on card 2.

  3. Two lovely cards, Christine, but I adore the first one with the layering of the trees and the tiny deer in the background. The contrast with the red paper at the top adds a lovely richness as well. The cool, wintry scene of the second card is just as lovely in a different way.

  4. Oh my your cards are stunning Christine. Very clever use of the large die from the Grove set of dies. I particularly love the first card as the colour palette is perfect. That little hint of Crumb Cake against the white card base just brings everything together beautifully.
