STAMPIN' UP! BEAUTY OF FRIENDSHIP THANK YOU CARD

 I set myself a personal challenge this week, since I had to create with Calypso Coral for last night's Colour Creations blog hop.  It's not a colour I find easy to work with, so I decided I would push myself to make two cards. 😄

The Harvest Meadow Designer Series Paper pack, coming out on 3rd August, contains some beautiful designs.  Happily, there are some lovely Calypso Coral papers in the pack.  My card showcases two of the paper patterns, the second being Crumb Cake (which I can work with seven days a week, no problem!).

I used the Picture This Dies to cut the apertures in the Calypso Coral paper, then sponged the outer edges of that layer with Calypso Coral ink.  I adhered the paper to a slightly larger mat of the Crumb Cake DSP, with edges sponged using Crumb Cake ink.

On a piece of Basic White card, I stamped my tree in two parts, using the Beauty of Friendship stamp set.  The trunk was stamped in Soft Suede ink, and the top of the tree in Calypso Coral ink, with a detail layer added in Crumb Cake.  The co-ordinating dies make easy work of cropping the stamped images (although I was a little "off" with my alignment of the tree trunk!).

From a second piece of the Crumb Cake patterned paper, I cut a rectangle using the Picture This Dies.  I used Crumb Cake ink, and my Stamparatus, to stamp the sentiment, which is from Sunny Sentiments.  I had to re-ink and stamp the sentiment several times to get good depth of colour.  Because the sentiment fits so snugly on the stitched rectangle, I held myself back from inserting a comma after "do"!

After stamping on the DSP, I inlaid the panel into the aperture cut from the Calypso Coral paper.

Did you notice the slight variation in tone, of the colour of the die-cut birds on my card?  When I was playing around with ideas for my Calypso Coral card for this week's Colour Creations Showcase, I scribbled some lines on a piece of Shimmery White card, using Dark and Light Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends.  I didn't end up using it for my blog hop card, but cut two sweet little birds from it to embellish this card.  Here's the leftover piece, against a woodgrain DSP background, so you can see what I mean:
