This week's blog hop is all about Early Espresso, the darkest brown in Stampin' Up!'s colour range.
I have used this colour combination, and my much-loved Just My Type stamp set, to create a birthday card:
I applied Early Espresso ink to the inside of the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder, by rubbing my inkpad directly on the underside of the "front" of the folder (the side with the SU! logo). I placed a piece of Petal Pink card inside the folder, and ran it through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine. After sponging the edges of this card panel with Crumb Cake ink, I matted it on an Early Espresso card layer.
The Petal Pink DSP piece was sponged with Crumb Cake ink, then adhered to the embossed background. I added a strip of Natural Wavy Trim across the card front.
The typewriter was stamped in Early Espresso ink on Basic White card, fussy cut, then sponged around the edges with Crumb Cake ink. I had on my desk a birthday sentiment stamped in Crumb Cake ink, on a Nested Essentials die-cut. I realised it fit quite nicely in place of the typewriter paper, so I stamped the top part of the typewriter on it in Early Espresso ink, lining it up with my hand-cut typewriter.
All the little flowers were cut using Seasonal Branches Dies, and decorated with pearl centres. The Early Espresso flowers have Blooming Pearls in the centre. The Crumb Cake flower centres are Iridescent Pearls that I coloured with the Natural Tones Deep 100 Stampin' Blends marker. Iridescent Pearls are in the centre of the Petal Pink flowers.
Although it really doesn't show, I coloured the Iridescent Pearl for the Basic White flower, using my Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends marker.

While I was deciding what to make with Early Espresso, I created a couple more cards, that I will share on my blog in the coming days. I hope you'll come back to see them. :)
What a fab retro card, Christine! I love, love, love your use of the Nested Essentials die-cut to fit into the typewriter and the distressed inked and embossed panels too. This is such an adorable card.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice to pair Early Espresso with Petal Pink. Love the added texture that is highlighted by the ink on the embossing folder
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant card, Christine. The inked TIEF looks amazing. Those little flowers, the Wavy Trim and that cute typewriter, are just the cutest!
