STAMPIN' UP! JUST MY TYPE FRIENDSHIP CARD FEATURING PECAN PIE

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Pecan Pie, a new brown in Stampin' Up!'s range.  I love it (it sits somewhere between the retired colours of Soft Suede, and Baked Brown Sugar, to my mind).

Helen Read, a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in the UK, generously shares the colour combinations she thinks up, for Stampin' Up! colours.  I chose this combination, and to have a play with the fun new Just My Type stamp set:

I never would have thought to put these colours together, but love how my card turned out!

I stamped the typewriter and paper in Pecan Pie ink on Basic White card, then cut out the image using Paper Snips.  The little rainbow stamp is also from the Just My Type stamp set.  I inked it up using Stampin' Write Markers in Berry Burst, Old Olive, Highland Heather and Pecan Pie.  Using my Stamparatus, I was able to ink each arc of the rainbow, one at a time, and stamp them individually.

I also used my Old Olive and Highland Heather Stampin' Write Markers to ink up the little pot and plant, both of which were fussy-cut.  Using my Pecan Pie inkpad, I inked up the cute heart stamp from the set, and stamped it repeatedly on the top half of the Pecan Pie gingham paper panel.

After cutting a strip of Berry Burst card to fit across my card front, I embossed it with the Timber 3D embossing folder.  It acts as a shelf on which the typewriter and plant pot sit.  I coloured two strands of white baker's twine with my Light Pecan Pie Stampin' Blends Marker, and created a bow to sit alongside the typewriter.

The sentiment is a bit smudgy, and rather imperfect, but I like that it is reminiscent of clunky old typewriters!  Back in the days before we even knew what a computer was, I remember hitting typewriter keys too hard, resulting in shadowing of letters (like a few of those in black below!).

To create the sentiment, I put washi tape over the last word on the stamp, inked it up in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then removed the washi tape before stamping onto Basic White card.  I then coloured the letters of the word "rainbow" using Stampin' Write Markers in the four colours in my colour scheme.  I used my Stamparatus, and found that the new photopolymer stamp was rather sticky, so moved a little each time - hence the irregular placement of each letter.  It adds a bit of authenticity to a "retro typed" word, though, don't you think?!  I'm going with that, anyway.  😂

I used a Deckled Rectangles Die just on the top and bottom of my sentiment panel, cutting one edge at a time using the long side of the die.

Gorgeous card Christine! Your Pecan typewriter works beautifully with the pop of Berry Burst across the middle. Great idea to colour the rainbow word in different colours.

  4. An oh so cute card Christine. I love it. Gorgeous marker to stamp colouring of the rainbow and part of the sentiment. The colour combo is wonderful and the addition of embossing, hearts on the background and pot plant contribute to this special card. xxx

  5. Oh, what a fabulous card! The splashes of colour are marvellous, and I totally thought that the effects on the sentiment were intentional! I still have an typewriter that I use on occasion, and I know exactly what you mean by hitting the keys too hard.

I agree with you, who would have thought to put those colours together but they do work. I especially love the way you have done the word "rainbows". Great idea to colour the Bakers Twine in Pecan Pie too.
