STAMPIN' UP! BIRTHDAY WISHES CARD FEATURING GORGEOUS GRAPE

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Gorgeous Grape, a purple that I don't use very often in my crafting - so, this was a good challenge!  It's just a little blog hop this week, so it won't take you long to visit all our blogs. :)

This is the colour combination I settled on, for my card:

I kept the design simple, adding texture (with embossing and die-cuts) for interest.

I cut a piece of Basic White card 5mm smaller, all round, than the Thick Basic White card base.  I added all my decorations to this smaller piece, before adding it to the card base.

To create the striped vertical panel, I started off with a scrap piece of grid paper, to which I added Multipurpose Liquid Glue (all over the surface, using the wide applicator end of the green & white glue bottle).  I cut 1.5cm strips of card in Gorgeous Grape, Lemon Lime Twist, Smoky Slate and Highland Heather, and laid them across the sticky paper.  After trimming the finished piece down to size, I embossed it with one of the Cheery Patterns embossing folders, then adhered it to the Basic White card panel.

The sentiment was created with two stamp sets.  Biggest Wish has long been a favourite, and we now have More Wishes, that has additional sentiments in the same fonts.  I love being able to mix and match sentiments, using the two sets.  I stamped the two words in Versamark ink on a Gorgeous Grape piece of card.  After heat-embossing it, with white embossing powder and my heat tool, I cut it out using the largest circle in the Stylish Shapes Dies.  With Deckled Circles Dies, I cut a slightly bigger circle from Highland Heather card, to mat behind the sentiment.

Using Beautiful Balloons Dies, I cut a number of stars from Basic White card.  I placed Adhesive Sheet on the back of the card before die-cutting, to make the stars clean to adhere to the card front.  I trimmed off overhanging pieces before I added my art piece to the card base.

Gorgeous Grape Glossy Dots add the requisite shine to my card.  I used Lemon Lime Twist ribbon, from the Ribbon Duo Combo Pack, to separate the striped panel from the star-studded piece.

Next up on tonight's blog hop is Catherine Proctor:

Gorgeous card Christine, fabulous colour scheme. The stripes down the left of the are striking. I’d never noticed the circle embossing folder before I saw it on your card, it adds great texture to the stripes
