AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 48: SO SAFFRON

This week's Colour Creations Showcase is all about So Saffron.  I've long considered this yellow rather insipid, and it has been relegated to my seldom-used colours.  However (as is usually the case!), I have really enjoyed creating with it this week; it has a bit more "body" than I have given it credit for.  Cathy Proctor co-ordinates our weekly colour shares.  You can see her beautiful project, and a list of all participants in the So Saffron share, here.

Two new Stampin' Up! products that I've been itching to put to use are the Stitched Greenery Die, and Linen Specialty Paper.  So, I've used them both on my card, and have to say, I love them both.  The coverplate die gives such a beautiful impression, and I love the texture and versatility of the Linen Specialty Paper.

I die cut a few florals, using the Meadow Dies, from the Linen Specialty Paper.  I coloured the flowers with Light So Saffron Stampin' Blends markers, and the stems and foliage with Soft Sea Foam (both light and dark) Stampin' Blends.  I then used So Saffron ink to stamp some text onto the flower heads.  I stamped the images twice, as the ink soaks into the paper.    The Linen Specialty Paper is self-adhesive, so I then just peeled off the backing paper to adhere the flowers directly to my scalloped rectangle (cut using Scalloped Contours Dies).  You can see the lovely linen texture here:

The scalloped topper on my card was cut from So Saffron card, using another Scalloped Contours Die.  I stamped the same text as I used on the flowers, onto this piece, and sponged So Saffron ink around the edges.  The sentiment is stamped in So Saffron ink, using my Stamparatus, so I could stamp it a few times to get good intensity of colour.  In this photo you can clearly see the beautiful background created using the Stitched Greenery die.  This die is going to be used a LOT in my crafting!
I added a Bumblebee gingham bow to my card, and resisted the urge to add gems, rhinestones, or any other embellishment!

Listed below are all the products I used to make this card.  If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my blog by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.

  1. Christine I love the fact you've coloured the linen specialty paper and given us a close-up photo so we can see hoe amazing this paper is! Your gorgeous card has inspired me to add that incredible coverplate stitched die to my next order - I didn't think I needed it until I saw your beautiful card!

  5. Oh wow, that linen paper looks fabulous - I hadn't even looked at it in the catalogue. But that Stitched Greenery die was the first item in my cart this week and I can't want to create with it. I love how awesome it looks on your card!!!
