AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 47: SMOKY SLATE

This week's Colour Creations Showcase is all about Smoky Slate, one of Stampin' Up!'s beautiful greys.  Not only am I excited to work with this lovely neutral, but it's new catalogue time, meaning I have new goodies to show you!  Cathy Proctor co-ordinates our weekly Colour Creations shares, and you can find a comprehensive list on her blog of all participants in this week's Showcase.

The card I am sharing with you tonight was made with new Designer Series Papers, dies, and stamps.  The Hand-Penned Petals bundle is the star of the card.

I used the new Basic Borders Dies to cut a decorative edge on my main Smoky Slate card panel.  Using the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set, and Smoky Slate ink, I stamped tiny flower clusters all over this panel.  With each impression, I inked the stamp, stamped it off onto scrap paper, then stamped it onto the Smoky Slate card.  This gave a more subtle effect than stamping full-strength.

After die-cutting two floral clusters from Basic White card, I cut two large flowers from a Blushing Bride sheet of Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper.  I sponged around the edges of the flowers, before laying them over the die cuts.  The flowers didn't quite fit exactly, to inlay them, but they still work!  I die-cut two smaller flowers from Smoky Slate card, and two lots of leaves from Basic Gray card.

The sentiment, from Vine Design, was stamped in Smoky Slate ink (using my Stamparatus, so I could stamp it a few times to get good depth of colour) on a scrap of Basic White card.  I cut it out using a Floral Gallery Die, and mounted it on the same patterned paper used for the flowers.  I'd sponged around the edges of the paper with Blushing Bride ink before adhering the sentiment.

A little white bow, and some tiny Basic Pearls, finish off my card.

Listed below are all the products I used to make this card.  If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.

  9. A lovely Sympathy card Christine. Blushing Bride with Smoky Slate is a great combo (snap) and I love the way you have inlaid the sponged edge flowers and added pink behind the sentiment - special touches. Also your background layers with subtle tone on tone stamping and die cuts is gorgeous. xxx
