AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 34: PETAL PINK

It's Wednesday night, which means it's time for some members of the Art With Heart team to share creations in the colour of the week.  This week it's Petal Pink's turn.  Cathy Proctor co-ordinates our weekly Colour Creations Showcase, and she has a comprehensive list on her blog of everyone participating in the share.  We hope you'll enjoy hopping around all our blogs, and leaving some comment love, if you feel so inclined.

Petal Pink is one of my least favourite colours in Stampin' Up!'s range.  I am a pink girl, at heart, but this pink has very yellowy/orange undertones, that I'm not a fan of.  I haven't used any Petal Pink ink on my card, because the ink is even more orange than the paper and card.  However, I have made a card that I am rather pleased with - hope you like it, too!

All of the decorative elements on my card are arranged on a Dandy Laser Cut Paper frame, that is matted onto a panel of Petal Pink Designer Series Paper, and in turn a piece of Petal Pink card that has been embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.

Here is a closer look at the flowers, die cut using the beautiful Poppy Moments dies.  The solid flowers were cut from Petal Pink Designer Series Paper, and the overlaid outlines from Petal Pink and Basic Gray card.  The leaves were cut from Soft Sea Foam Designer Series Paper and card, and lightly sponged around the edges with Soft Sea Foam ink.

I added a few Elegant Faceted Gems to the middle flower.

I stamped the sentiment, from Peaceful Moments, in Versamark ink onto Petal Pink card.  Using white embossing powder, and my heat tool, I heat embossed it; a nice, subtle, look for a sympathy card.  The gorgeous label shape is from the Potted Succulents dies.

Listed below are all the products I used to make my card.  If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.

Make sure you go to Cathy's blog, to see her gorgeous share, and to find the links to the blog posts of all other participants in this week's Showcase.

  1. Christine I would never have known you dislike Petal Pink looking at your lovely card - you should certainly be very pleased with it! I totally agree with what you said about the colour of the ink. Thanks for joining the CCS tonight!

  2. For someone who doesn't like this colour, you have blitzed it with your gorgeous card Christine. I love the way you have used the DSP and that you have selected die-cut shapes and other elements we wouldn't normally pick for Petal Pink. You've taken them out of context and created a card anyone would cherish receiving!

  4. For someone who doesn't like Petal Pink, Christine, I think you have done an amazing job with this card, using lots of DSP. I have to agree about the ink pad too, really not a great match :(

  5. A great showcase of our Petal Pink, Christine. The laser-cut frame over the embossed panel looks great, and your choice of the white embossed sentiment was spot on. It is hard to create designs with disliked colours, but you have nailed it with this one.
