AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 37: PRETTY PEACOCK

Tonight Cathy Proctor is hosting Week 37 of our weekly Colour Creations Showcase, in which we are working our way through Stampin' Up!'s colours, alphabetically.  Our featured colour this week is Pretty Peacock.  Cathy has a comprehensive list on her blog of all the participants in this week's share.  We hope you will click on the links to all of our blogs, to see our Pretty Peacock creations.

I decided I wanted to pair Pretty Peacock with grey, so dug out my Peony Garden Designer Series Paper.  I chose a piece of white-background paper that has a Basic Gray floral print.  I coloured a single peony bloom, using Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends markers, and coloured the flower's leaves with Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends markers.  Once I had coloured the flower, I decided I wanted a bit of a "moody" look, so I used a blending brush to add Smoky Slate ink all over the background paper.

I used the largest scalloped rectangle die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to cut around my coloured image.   After laying down some ribbon (coloured using the Light Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends marker), I re-attached the die-cut panel, using Stampin' Dimensionals.

A close-up of the single coloured flowers, along with some rhinestones that I coloured with my Dark Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends marker.  You can also see (on the right hand side, at least) how the scalloped rectangle panel is raised up:

Here's a closer view of the ribbon treatment.  I laid a strip of ribbon across the card, underneath the raised central piece.  I then adhered a bow to the raised panel, next to the sentiment, that is white-embossed on Pretty Peacock card.  I normally use the darker shade of Stampin' Blends to colour ribbon, but I decided to use the lighter shade on this one, so it wasn't too heavy on the grey background.

Inside the card I adhered a Basic White card panel, stamped with a single peony, in Pretty Peacock ink:

Listed below are all the products I used to make this card.  If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.

  9. A beautiful card love. Very dramatic to only colour the one flower but so effective. Thanks for the tip to colour that silver edged ribbon too, it's come up beautifully.
