Tonight's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Mango Melody, a yellowy-orange in Stampin' Up!'s range. This is one of my least-used colours, so I enjoyed stretching myself out of my comfort zone for this week's share.
I have used the Painted Poppies stamp set, and co-ordinating Painted Labels Dies, to create a bright "thank you" card.
I stamped my Mango Melody card base with poppy images, in Mango Melody ink, then attached a Mango Melody embossed and die-cut curved piece to the top of the card.
For my focal piece, I stamped three outline poppies in Mango Melody ink on Basic White card, then used what I call the "blobby" stamp to fill in the petals with Mango Melody ink. I added tiny Basic Pearls to the flower centres, after I'd coloured the pearls with the Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blends marker. The leaves were stamped in Granny Apple Green ink (first the outlines, then the splatter stamp to fill in). I arranged the flowers and leaves on a Basic Black wreath cut using a Seasonal Swirls die, and added a black and white gingham double bow. All of these elements were added to a Basic White panel that I'd embossed using a Thanks & Hello embossing folder. A loopy scalloped border, cut from Granny Apple Green card using a Peony die, was added to the bottom of the white panel before it was matted on some Pattern Party Designer Series Paper.

You have so many lovely layers on this vibrant card, Christine. Love the poppies stamped in an unexpected colour, Mango Melody!
ReplyDeleteA lovely thank you card Christine. So love all the layers and textures. Your colour combination of Mango Melody, white and black with a touch of Granny Apple Green is delightful. Xxx
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful elements to your card, Christine. I have never thought to colour the pearls with Black Blends, but what a great effect it is with the other black features. Those poppies are so pretty in Mango Melody, who would have thought?!!!
ReplyDeleteMy poppies seem to always be yellow or orange or even yellowy-orange {wink} so this seems 'just right". I love the poppies stamped in the background and the curved piece too.
ReplyDeleteChristine, what a gorgeous card to showcase Mango Melody. It’s all happening here with layers and textures and colour bursts - wow!
