This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Melon Mambo.
I've used the Jar of Flowers stamp set to create a bouquet of deep pink tulips in a jar. I started off by stamping the flowers, jar, and extra stems inside the jar, on a piece of Basic White card, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The jar lid (that we're imagining has a hole in the top, in which the flowers sit) was stamped separately in Versamark ink, and heat-embossed with silver embossing powder. I fussy-cut the embossed image, and glued it on after colouring the bouquet.
To colour the main images, I used Stampin' Blends markers in Melon Mambo, Old Olive, So Saffron and Fresh Freesia. The water in the jar is stamped in Pool Party ink, that I stamped off first onto scrap paper, to give a lighter impression on my card. I cut out the main panel with an Ornate Layers Die, and matted it on a layer of Silver Foil.
After colouring the flowers, I added Wink of Stella to the tulips, for a little shimmer to complement the silver elements on my card. I used Melon Mambo Stampin' Blends markers to colour White Glittered Organdy ribbon, and rhinestones.
Underneath the focal panel, I added a Square Vellum Doily, cut in half so I could extend it out the sides of the Silver Foil layer. The sentiment strip was made into a banner by flagging one end with the Tailored Tag punch. The rhinestones were strategically placed to try to cover up ink I managed to smudge on my main panel ... but I'm not sure I was entirely successful!
Next up on tonight's blog hop is Catherine Proctor. If you click on the button below, you'll be taken to her blog.
LOL, Christine, you were entirely successful in covering up your ink and yes I can imagine a hole in the lid of your jar. I love this stamp set and how you have coloured it in, as well as the ribbon. What a gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteI love all the pink on this card, Christine. The glittery ribbon coloured pink, to the DSP, rhinestones and beautiful bright flowers. The vertical sentiment is perfect down the side and the vellum doily softens the background dsp.
ReplyDeleteA lovely Melon Mambo card Christine. Silver is brilliant with Melon Mambo. I love so many details: the vertical sentiment, the detail in the lid, your colouring of the ribbon and rhinestones, the layering and so much more. Xxx
ReplyDeleteIt’s so nice to see Jar of Flowers getting an inking, and you’ve done it proud with these sweet tulips. You go to so much trouble, even colouring the ribbon, but what a wonderful result!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Christine. You had me at pink and silver, then you threw in that gorgeous PINK organdy ribbon! Oh my gosh P R E T T Y!!!
