Every Monday night, until the end of November, a group of us shares Christmas projects made with Stampin' Up! products.  It seems most of my Christmas cards lately have been green (I can't get enough of the two new In Color greens), so I made a conscious effort to focus on red for tonight's card.

The gingham background paper, and the DSP strip behind the die-cut "cheer" are from the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper pack.  The colours in this pack are Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow and Real Red, so I've co-ordinated the elements of my card design with the paper.

The sentiment (both stamped and die-cut parts) is from the Words of Cheer bundle.  Onto the gingham background, I adhered a vertical strip of Basic White card that I had embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.  A narrower strip of Heartwarming Hugs DSP then provides a mat for the die cut word.  I die-cut "CHEER" from Real Red card (making sure to use Adhesive Sheet on the back of the card, to create letter stickers - no mess!).  These letters are stuck to a base layer of Cork Specialty Paper, that I thought went nicely with the Crumb Cake card base.  Before sticking down the double-layered word, I added a wreath (see below).

Here's a close up of the lovely textures and patterns:

I die cut, from Mossy Meadow card, a wreath using the Seasonal Swirls Dies.  Holly leaf sprigs (from Christmas Cheer Dies) were cut from Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow card, and added to the wreath.
A Real Red satin bow, and Wonderful Gems, finish off the card.

Product List

  1. Your card is so beautifully designed, Christine, and the cork specialty paper looks amazing behind the red letters. Love the addition of the wreath!

  2. Gorgeous card Christine! I’ll be honest I’m not a fan of this gingham but you have done an amazing job with the addition of the word Cheer and the wreath. I think the white panel and the green DSP ‘tones’ down the gingham. Just fabulous!

  3. Ooh I love the cork paper behind the Cheer lettering. This DSP is lovely with the wreath and Words of Cheer Bundle. The white panel really allows the sentiment to pop!

  4. So many lovely layers on your card and the cork is just perfect as well. I love the wreath as well that is fantastic. So gorgeous!

  5. I love how you say that you were conscious of using red yet green is the colour that I see when I see this card. As always itá ll the little details that sets your cards apart like the use of cork, the addition of the wreath and the red gems with the holly leaves. Just beautiful

  6. This is a gorgeous card, Christine. I love the basic white embossed panel behind the sentiment it just lifts every element on the card. It’s also nice to see the gingham pattern used from the Heartwarming Hugs DSP as it’s the only one I’m struggling to use - thanks for the inspiration!
