STAMPIN' UP! THINKING OF YOU CARD IN GORGEOUS GRAPE

For tonight's blog hop, we are all focussing on Gorgeous Grape, which is one of Stampin' Up!'s purples.  I don't use a lot of purple in my crafting (at least not as the main colour on a project), but I like purple with gold - so, I have teamed purple with gold and white.

The starting point for my card was a panel of beautiful Ombre Specialty Paper (which has a beautiful shimmer), in Gorgeous Grape.  As the name suggests, the colour intensity fades from top to bottom.  It's a little hard to tell, since I covered up the mid-section of this piece, with my main decorative panel!

I stamped, in Gorgeous Grape ink, one of the Stitchery stamps around the border of the Ombre Paper.  This piece was adhered to a slightly larger Gorgeous Grape card mat.

For the centre piece, I cut some Basic White card, and embossed it with the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder.  A thin strip of Gold Metallic Paper was adhered above and below this piece, to tie in with the gorgeous metallic Artistic floral die cut.  The floral piece is attached to two circles stamped in Gorgeous Grape, using a Watercolor Shapes stamp (then die cut using Layering Circles Dies).

I added a small doubled-over length of Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon, under the gold die cut.  A couple of glue dots helped secure the ribbon in place.  I managed to smudge the ink when stamping the stitches in the top right-hand corner of my card front ... hence the strategically-placed butterfly!  I die-cut the butterfly using a Nature's Thoughts Die, and the lighter section of the Gorgeous Grape Ombre Specialty Paper.  A couple of Metallic Pearls bring a bit more gold detail to the card.

The sentiment, from the Art Gallery stamp set, was stamped in Versamark ink on a piece of Gorgeous Grape card.  I then heat-embossed it, using white embossing powder and my heat tool, and cropped it using a label die from the Art Gallery bundle.

  1. Purple and gold really is a fabulous combo, and I love how you've used it on your wonderful card. The die cut flowers look amazing against the purple circles underneath.

  3. A lovely card Christine. Gorgeous Grape with gold is delightful. When I first looked at your card I thought you had stitched a zigzag with your machine. Your stamping is very effective - and I hadn’t noticed any smudges. Xxx

  6. I think purple and gold look gorgeous together Christine! So pretty. And, I had to zoom in to see that the zigzag stitching really is a stamp. At first glance I thought you’d got the sewing machine out!
