STAMPIN' UP! THINKING OF YOU CARD IN GORGEOUS GRAPE

For tonight's blog hop, we are all focussing on Gorgeous Grape, which is one of Stampin' Up!'s purples.  I don't use a lot of purple in my crafting (at least not as the main colour on a project), but I like purple with gold - so, I have teamed purple with gold and white.

The starting point for my card was a panel of beautiful Ombre Specialty Paper (which has a beautiful shimmer), in Gorgeous Grape.  As the name suggests, the colour intensity fades from top to bottom.  It's a little hard to tell, since I covered up the mid-section of this piece, with my main decorative panel!

I stamped, in Gorgeous Grape ink, one of the Stitchery stamps around the border of the Ombre Paper.  This piece was adhered to a slightly larger Gorgeous Grape card mat.

For the centre piece, I cut some Basic White card, and embossed it with the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder.  A thin strip of Gold Metallic Paper was adhered above and below this piece, to tie in with the gorgeous metallic Artistic floral die cut.  The floral piece is attached to two circles stamped in Gorgeous Grape, using a Watercolor Shapes stamp (then die cut using Layering Circles Dies).

I added a small doubled-over length of Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon, under the gold die cut.  A couple of glue dots helped secure the ribbon in place.  I managed to smudge the ink when stamping the stitches in the top right-hand corner of my card front ... hence the strategically-placed butterfly!  I die-cut the butterfly using a Nature's Thoughts Die, and the lighter section of the Gorgeous Grape Ombre Specialty Paper.  A couple of Metallic Pearls bring a bit more gold detail to the card.

The sentiment, from the Art Gallery stamp set, was stamped in Versamark ink on a piece of Gorgeous Grape card.  I then heat-embossed it, using white embossing powder and my heat tool, and cropped it using a label die from the Art Gallery bundle.

STAMPIN' UP! COUNT ON ME - CAJUN CRAZE

Tonight's Colour Creations blog hop is focussing on Cajun Craze.  I always find it a challenge to use this rusty colour!  I considered a number of colour combinations, but settled on Cajun Craze, Basic Black, and Basic White.

Using a couple of images from the sweet Count On Me stamp set, I've invoked "creative licence" when it comes to my colouring!  Usually only large male Red Kangaroos (or "boomers") are a red colour ... females are a blue-grey.  All's fair play in the world of crafting, though, isn't it? 😀

This is my favourite part of the card.  I love the look of the letters die-cut from patterned paper.  I used Pattern Play Designer Series Paper (which can be earned for free with a qualifying Stampin' Up! product order).  Before cutting the letters using a die from the Sending Hugs bundle, I adhered some Foam Adhesive Sheet to the reverse side of the paper.  This gives the end product some lovely dimension, and makes sticking the letters to your card less messy ... well, in theory!  I underestimated just how sticky the foam was, and was unable to rearrange my "H" when I realised I'd placed it too close to the "U".

I started off my card by stamping, in Cajun Craze ink (stamped off once onto scrap paper first, to lessen the intensity of colour), three vertical rectangles on my Stitched Rectangle panel of Basic White card.  The stamped rectangles are from the Watercolor Shapes stamp set.  As my card design evolved, I decided to replace the top left rectangle with a piece of Designer Series Paper.  I added a Cajun Craze heart, cut using a Birds & More Die.  The tiny little "sending you" and die-cut sentiment label are from the Sending Hugs bundle.

The kangaroo and fox were both coloured with Cajun Craze Stampin' Blends markers.  I used the Color Lifter to lighten the kangaroo's tummy, and the fox's face and tail.  The flower was coloured using Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends, and the leaf using my Light Old Olive Stampin' Blends marker.
Some more hearts (in Basic White card), cut using the Birds & More Die, were scattered around the top part of the card.  How beautiful are the copper dots I used to finish off my card?  They are from the Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots pack, that will be available in the Mini Catalogue that goes live on 3rd August.
