STAMPIN' UP! STITCHED STARS BIRTHDAY CARD FOR #TCH#27

I don't normally blog late at night, but I'm excited to share a card I made for the current challenge at  Color Hues:

I have been thinking about this colour combo for a few days ... it is way outside my comfort zone!  Tonight an idea stuck firmly in my head, and I just had to make this card before I went to bed.  I'm always looking to add to my stash of birthday cards for guys, and I think this one fits the bill nicely.

After cutting two rectangles of Granny Apple Green card, and two of Pumpkin Pie card, I stamped each in the same colours of ink with two images - the abstract square cluster from the Tasteful Touches stamp set, and the splatter from the Color & Contour stamp set.  I sponged the edges of each piece before adhering all four to a slightly larger panel of Basic Black card.

I then embossed the whole panel with a Checks & Dots embossing folder (clearly, the "checks" option 😉).  It is a narrow folder, so I embossed half of the card front first, then ran it through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine again, to emboss the second half.  Some stitched stars, die cut from Granny Apple Green and Pumpkin Pie card, add some great simple but graphic detail.  Check out the beautiful texture provided by the embossing:

Using my Stamparatus, to get good colour saturation with the two ink colours, I stamped the sentiment (from the Biggest Wish stamp set) on Basic White card, using Granny Apple Green ink, and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I cropped the sentiment with a Stitched Rectangles Die, then adhered the panel to a mat of Basic Black card.  A few Matte Black Dots were added to finish off the card.

Listed below are all the products I used to make this card.  If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.
