Tonight's Colour Creations blog hop, that I am taking part in with a group of friends who are Stampin' Up! demonstrators in Australia, is focussing on Gray Granite. This neutral is quite a brownish-grey, that doesn't make its way into my crafting very often. I doubly-challenged myself, to use Gray Granite, and with blues (also not my go-to colours!).
A stamp set that I have struggled to warm to is Enjoy the Moment. I quite enjoyed playing with it, with these colours, though, and came up with this card:
After stamping the Poppy Seeds (?) in Gray Granite, along the bottom of my Ornate Layers rectangle, I coloured them using a Blender Pen and my Gray Granite inkpad. I then stamped the other images in Balmy Blue, Night of Navy and Gray Granite.
I adhered the focal panel to a piece of Balmy Blue paper from the You're A Peach DSP pack, and matted that on Night of Navy card. The Gray Granite background piece has been embossed with the Timber 3D embossing folder. After embossing it, I added Gray Granite ink with a Blending Brush, to highlight the raised pattern. A few Elegant Faceted Gems were added to my stamped panel.

Love your card Christine, Gray Granite looks terrific with Balmy Blue. The GG Shimmer Ribbon looks very special
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you challenged yourself to use these colours you don't use very often, Christine, because you've bought these colours together beautifully in this card. I especially love your bow of the gray granite ribbon.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a wonderful job with a stamp set and colour combo that you aren't comfortable with. Your card is fabulous. The collage stamping on the main panel is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWell you nailed the challenge on both the stamp set and the colours - this is a really lovely card and has a calm vibe about it with the nature themed stamp set and soft colours. Gorgeous! Had a laugh at your comment about Simba - we had to go back and look at the photo and you are right - he is posing like the deer!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Balmy Blue looks amazing with Gray Granite, Christine and the pops of Night of Navy. Love all the layers & texture too. These stamps never grabbed me, but this is the nicest card I've seen using this set!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely card and colour combination Christine. I have to echo Kate’s sentiment about this stamp set not grabbing me either, but your card really is so lovely.
