This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Cherry Cobbler, a dark red in Stampin' Up!'s colour range. It's a great Christmas red, and I have chosen to feature it on a Christmas card, while I'm on a roll creating with new Mini Catalogue products coming out on 6th September.
In the Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper pack (also out on 6th September) there is a beautiful red patterned paper that combines Real Red and Cherry Cobbler. It looks a bit "splotchy", but on closer inspection has leaves incorporated in the design. That's the background I chose for tonight's card.
I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink, and heat-embossed it using white embossing powder. The edges of the octagonal piece were sponged in Cherry Cobbler ink, and I added some Festive Pearls for decoration.
After embossing a piece of Cherry Cobbler card with the Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder, I sponged around the edges with Cherry Cobbler ink. I also sponged the edges of the background paper, and adhered both these pieces to a slightly larger mat of Cherry Cobbler card.
The ribbon I've used is from the Real Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo pack. I coloured the ribbon with my Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends marker.
On Shaded Spruce card, I stamped three clusters of holly leaves in Versamark ink. I sprinkled white embossing powder over the stamped images, and melted the powder with a heat tool before die-cutting the leaves.
Next up on tonight's blog hop is Rachel Palmieri. If you click on the graphic below, you'll be taken to her blog:
If you come across any broken links, or would like to see a comprehensive list of all participants in tonight's blog hop, head over to Catherine Proctor's blog. Cathy does a great job of co-ordinating our Colour Creations blog hops.
Listed below are the current Stampin' Up! products I used to make my card. I can't yet link to the Mini Catalogue products in my store, as they aren't available to purchase until 6th September (unless you sign up as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator before that!). If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.
Christine, your sentiment stamped and heat embossed in white really pops against the deep Cherry Cobbler and Real Red paper from the Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper. I also love the white heat embossed holly leaves.
