This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Berry Burst, one of the beautiful colours from the past that has been recently reintroduced into Stampin' Up!'s range.
I have been building up my stash of birthday and baby cards, and now need to work on other occasions, including anniversary cards. As well as the colour challenge, my personal challenge was to use the Ringed With Nature stamp set, and Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder (and dies). I've had them for ages, but rarely use them. I have to say, I love how all the "bits" came together.
I started off by embossing a Basic Gray card panel with one of the Basics 3D embossing folders. I matted this layer onto a slightly larger piece of Smoky Slate card.
Using the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder (the largest die fits inside the folder, to be used to cut and emboss in one pass through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine), I created the Smoky Slate wood-look pieces that I glued across the top half of the Basic Gray panel.
I stamped three flowers in Berry Burst ink, and fussy cut them using Paper Snips. Foliage was cut from Berry Burst, Basic Gray and Basic White card scraps, using dies from the Tree Rings set.
The flower centres are decorated with silver Festive Pearls, and I added some Adhesive-Backed Sequins, which in real life have pinkish tones to complement Berry Burst.
Both parts of the sentiment are from Ringed With Nature. "Thinking of You" was stamped in Basic Gray ink on Basic White card. "Happy Anniversary" was white heat-embossed on Berry Burst card, and both sentiments were cut using Something Fancy Dies.

Christine, this is a gorgeous card! I too, love how all the "bits" came together and I love the colour scheme. But most of all, I loved seeing you on the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love how you've used the tree die cuts and floral cluster to create the diagonal line across your card. It's such a pretty card!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely card Christine and I love how as "usual" you have managed to pull all "the bits" together. Berry Burst does go well with most of the grays doesn't it. I particularly like the way you have split the sentiment over the two panels as well as the way you have positioned the tree rings on the angle.
ReplyDeleteWell this is a great card, I love the embossing on the back but the rings of smoky slate behind your berry burst focal point are the winner! I love how they just flow and sweep, they are perfect! It was so lovely to see you on the weekend and then see you again! Love your card!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Christine. I love those tree rings, they go perfectly with the floral arrangement. The embossed panel is pretty too and I love the combined sentiment. Loved seeing you on Saturday and again briefly today!
ReplyDeleteI love how the Basic Gray makes the Berry Burst just pop. I’m also loving the angle of the tree ring dies, great card!
ReplyDeleteYou have done a great job giving Ringed With Nature some love Christine. I feel it is a little neglected too. The angled slices of wood are a striking base for those gorgeous Berry Burst flowers.
ReplyDeleteThe gray and Berry Burst are just made for each other, such a gorgeous card Christine, I love the combination of elements you have put together.
ReplyDeleteStunning card, the berry burst is very bright and bold but when paired with the grey colours is works wonderfully.
