I recently had a surprise visit from my friend, Keri, who lives in New Zealand. We've been friends for over 40 years, and she must have known I needed her. Keri came to stay after my ankle surgery four months ago. I am still unable to drive, and my ankle is healing more slowly than I (or my surgeon) would like, so I've been struggling a bit to stay buoyant. Having my dear friend here for a few days was just what I needed.
While she was here, Keri wanted to see how I make a card. Put on the spot, I wasn't sure I could perform, but I came up with a card that I really like! I used my "tried and true" method of pairing a couple of complementary patterned papers, adding some ribbon and gems, and a centred focal piece. I used the beautiful Design A Daydream DSP, that is a Stampin' Reward item (free if you order $310 of SU! product).
I stamped the "Happy Birthday cake" on Basic White card, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. This piece was cut out using a Scalloped Contours Die (later matted on Blackberry Bliss card). Inspired by the papers, I used Stampin' Blends markers in Petal Pink, Pool Party and Blackberry Bliss to colour the stamped image.
Petal Pink Soft Polyester Ribbon was the perfect choice for this card, I think! I used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the main art piece, so it didn't sit awkwardly over the ribbon.
Listed below are all the products I used to make this card. If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.
