STAMPIN' UP! TRUE BEAUTY BIRTHDAY CARD IN MERRY MERLOT

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is showcasing Merry Merlot, a burgundy red in Stampin' Up!'s Neutrals range.

I've employed a bit of stamping, a bit of die-cutting, and some fussy-cutting on my card, using the True Beauty bundle and co-ordinating Awash in Beauty Designer Series Paper.

When creating the focal piece for my card, the only stamping I did was of the Mossy Meadow stems/sprigs.  I die-cut them, and added some Merry Merlot small flowers that were die-cut from the DSP.  The two larger, open, flowers, were fussy-cut from the same sheet of DSP.

I arranged the flowers on a couple of Basic White ovals, created with Framed Florets Dies.

The floral background paper is from the Neutrals 6"x6" DSP pack.

I white-embossed the sentiment, from Go To Greetings, on a scrap of Merry Merlot card.  The die used to cut out the sentiment is from the Potted Succulents Dies.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the sentiment label.

Before I made this card, I played around with a few different ideas (none of which came together, clearly!).  In the process, I used the Stitched Greenery Die on a piece of Merry Merlot card.  I cut a couple of thin strips from that panel, to decorate my card front.

How beautiful does the Sweet Sorbet metallic ribbon look against Merry Merlot?

I added some Adhesive-Backed Sequins, that are technically Fresh Freesia (and therefore slightly purple), as I think they help lighten up the heaviness of the Merry Merlot background.

Inside the card, I added a Basic White panel, decorated with a few tiny floral "bits" fussy cut from the Awash in Beauty DSP:
