It's almost time for the last Heart of Christmas blog hop for the year ... next week will be the final share from our group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around Australia. Sadly, tonight IS my final share for the year, as I am about to have ankle surgery. The recovery period is pretty long, and I have to elevate my leg for several weeks, which means no playing in my craft room.
The card I am sharing is another in my series of Lights Aglow, and Twinkling Lights, cards. It's unmistakeably a "Christine card", with the layout, but I stepped outside my usual colour comfort zone with this one. I love the drama of the black papers in the Lights Aglow Designer Series Paper pack. For tonight's card, I teamed two of the black patterns with Distressed Gold DSP, and Very Vanilla card. It's a little hard to see in the photos, but in addition to the starry paper, I laid a wide strip of black bokeh-patterned paper across the card, in the bottom third of the front panel.
The embellishments added to the tree are Gold Festive Pearls, and Champagne Rhinestones coloured with a Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blends marker.
I gold heat-embossed the sentiment, from Christmas to Remember, on Very Vanilla card, and cut it out using a Stylish Shapes Die. It's popped up on Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, across the tree that is die-cut from Very Vanilla card.
Next up on tonight's blog hop is Caroline Manwaring. If you click on the button below, you will be taken to her blog:
If you come across any broken links, or would like to see a comprehensive list of all participants in this week's blog hop, head over to Sharon Davern's blog. Sharon does a fantastic job of co-ordinating the Heart of Christmas blog hops every week, and I have thoroughly enjoyed taking part this year. Please make sure you check out everyone else's blog posts next Monday night, the final shares for this year.

A delightful card Christine. I love your combination of papers/DSP/Distressed Gold with the layout. Beautiful combination of pearls & rhinestones as decorations for the tree. Xxx
ReplyDeleteChristine I love the drama of this DSP colour combination too and you have showcased it perfectly on your rich, dark and elegant card. Best of luck with your impending surgery xx
ReplyDeleteA very dramatic style card, Christine, but it really works! Incorporating the Vanilla tree really makes it stand out and the pretty bling on the tree and distressed gold paper add lovely shine.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great way to use that black DSP. The distressed gold looks amazing with it. All the best with the surgery - I remember all too well having to be immobile for weeks after mine!
ReplyDeleteDramatic indeed and simply elegant, Christine. I love all the gold elements and combination of rhinestones and pearls on the tree. Best wishes with your surgery and a speedy recovery so you can get back into your craft room ASAP. Caroline xx
