STAMPIN' UP! SPLENDID THOUGHTS BIRTHDAY CARD IN GORGEOUS GRAPE

Tonight's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Gorgeous Grape, a beautiful mid-purple in Stampin' Up!'s colour range.

I've finally used the Splendid Thoughts bundle (stamps and dies) that I have had for months, but hadn't yet opened.  It is so beautiful, and versatile.  I'm looking forward to playing some more with it, using different colours.  My card today features Gorgeous Grape, gold and white:

It's a bit hard to photograph this purple ... it throws much bluer tones in my photos than in real life.

I started off by stamping two floral/leafy stems on Basic White card, using Versamark ink, and heat-embossing them in gold.  I used a Blending Brush to add Gorgeous Grape ink, before die-cutting them.  I arranged these pieces with die-cut leaves, in both gold and Gorgeous Grape, in a gold bowl/pot.  After cutting a Fabulous Frame from Gorgeous Grape card, I embossed the centre piece using the Timber 3D embossing folder.

I layered all these pieces on a Gorgeous Grape card panel, on which I'd stamped the same floral image in Gorgeous Grape ink.

Here's a closer look at the focal piece on my card:

The sentiment, from Happiness Abounds, was stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink on Basic White card, and cut out using a Stitched Rectangles die.  I was determined to use Gorgeous Grape glossy dots on my card (as they're so beautiful) ... but I may have got a little carried away. 😃

After adhering the Gorgeous Grape stamped panel to a Thick Basic White card base, I added a strip of Gold Metallic Paper.  This is the same paper I used to cut the bowl/pot (clearly I don't know what to call it).

  5. I can't believe you haven't been using this stamp, but it was worth waiting I guess. Love the drama of Gorgeous Grape, and the flowers stamped on the background look great.
