Welcome to the Colour Creations Blog Hop, where several of my Stampin' Up! friends and I share creations showcasing Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order.  The feature colour in this week's blog hop is Basic Gray.

This moody neutral is a great colour to incorporate on masculine cards - my favourite kind of card to make!  I have used the Mountain Air stamp set and co-ordinating Majestic Mountain Dies, along with my favourite soon-to-retire sentiment stamp set, You Are Amazing.

You may think I have used a green ink to create the mist shrouding the mountains, but no, it's just greys! Using the solid reverse side of the mountain stamp,  I used Smoky Slate ink, stamped off once onto scrap paper first, to give a light impression of mountains on a piece of Basic White card.  I then flipped over the stamp, inked it with Basic Gray ink, and stamped the line detail of the mountains over the top.  The Smoky Slate ink had not completely dried before I blended some Basic Gray ink over the top, using a Blending Brush.  Rather intriguingly, the result was a greenish hue.  I don't mind it!

I have used a Basic Borders Die, reminiscent of snowy mountain peaks, to cut the top edge of the Basic White stamped piece.  The trees are die cut from Basic Gray and Basic Black card.

I white heat-embossed the sentiment on a piece of Basic Gray card, and cut it out using a Tasteful Labels Die.  I mounted this on a Basic Black Tailor Made Tag, with a hole reinforcer in Basic White, and some Basic Gray baker's twine knotted through it.

The background paper is one of the sheets from the Simply Elegant Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.

Beautiful serene card Christine, and I love the use of the Basic Borders Dies through the middle.

  2. I love this Christine. Stamp set now on my wish list

  3. Oh Christine I love the effect of your "happy accident" and the way you've used the border die and this background DSP and the sentiment (one of my faves too) and the, so, so much to love about this card!

  4. I have always been envious of your masculine cards. It is one of those themes that just isn't a strong point for me. As usual, an amazing job xox

  5. Love the way you made the snow peaks - very cool. I must play with this stamp set some more.

  6. Oh my, that is gorgeous, Christine. I really thought you used a green ink! The way you have created that mist is just stunning. A lovely card.

  7. Such an awesome card Christine and love the snowy peaks and those Misty mountains!

  8. Ooooh, I love the way that the border die looks like snowy mountains! Such a clever way to use the die. Fantastic card.

  9. Christine, this is just lovely, I can almost smell the misty mountain air. Great use of those Border Dies.

  10. It wasnt until I read the actual description of your card that I realised the "white peaks" were actually cut using the border dies. Very inspiring and multi-purposing. And the DSP just matches perfectly.

  11. Great choice of stamp set Christine. :) I love how you have combined it with the new Basic Border and Tailor Made dies. Beautiful card.

  12. I love the tag behind the happy birthday sentiment. You do masculine cards extremely well.
