AWHT COLOUR CREATIONS SHOWCASE - WEEK 43: TERRACOTTA TILE

We have a slight interruption to the alphabetical order, of Stampin' Up!'s colours, this week.  Terracotta Tile is one of the In Colors that will retire at the beginning of May, and since it's a favourite of a few who take part in the Colour Creations Showcase, we are slotting it in this week!  Next week we will resume with the "S" colours.  Cathy Proctor hosts our showcases each week, and she has a comprehensive list on her blog of all participants in the Terracotta Tile share.

I hardly ever use Terracotta Tile, so stewed for days about what to do with it.  In the end, a card design came to me in a dream!  This is not unusual for me; I keep a notepad and pen by my bed, so that I can sketch, or write down, ideas when I wake up.

Here's the scribbled sketch I created:

... and the card I made:

It turned out pretty much as I'd pictured, with only a couple of tweaks, with a smaller sentiment, and changing the pots a little.  How pretty does this Ornate Garden paper look, die cut using the largest of the Many Medallions Dies?  I backed both the larger panel of Basic White card, and the piece of Ornate Garden DSP, with Adhesive Sheets.  When die cut, it was easy to then adhere the DSP portion to the Basic White die cut, and the whole die cut piece to the card base. The ribbon is from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo, and the Terracotta Tile sequins are from the Woven Threads Sequin Assortment.  The sentiment, stamped in Terracotta Tile ink, is from the Simply Succulents bundle as is the die used to cut it out.

I tried a few variations, of colouring mediums, papers and patterns, for the pots and succulents.  In the end I decided on pots stamped in Terracotta Tile ink, on Terracotta Tile Designer Series Paper.  After die-cutting the pots, I added Terracotta Tile ink to the DSP, using a sponge dauber.

The succulents were stamped in Old Olive ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.  I watercoloured them with Old Olive and Terracotta Tile inks.  To the top arrangement I added a succulent die-cut from Ornate Garden DSP, and to both pots I added the "hanging" plants cut from Old Olive DSP.  The shelves on which the pots sit were die cut, using a Stitched Rectangles Die, from In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.

Listed below are all the products I used to make this card.  If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below.
