Gorgeous Grape is a bold purple, that is part of Stampin' Up!'s Regals family. This week we are sharing Gorgeous Grape creations, as we work our way through all of Stampin' Up!'s colours, alphabetically.
I have used several of the fun stamps from Cake Fancy, to make a birthday card.
Starting with a Basic White Thick card base, I added a layer of Basic White Thick card embossed with a Basics 3D embossing folder. The next layer is a panel of Gorgeous Grape Designer Series Paper, from the Regals 6"x6" DSP pack. I sponged the edges with Gorgeous Grape ink.
The focal piece of my card started as a Deckled Rectangle, cut from Basic White card. I stamped two cake layers in Gorgeous Grape ink, then added piped icing in between, in a slightly lighter shade. To do this, I inked the stamp with Gorgeous Grape ink, stamped it off onto scrap paper, then stamped it in between the cake layers. The meringue-shaped pieces were stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink on top of the cake, and the twine and bow stamped on the bottom layer. Once I had the cake assembled, I stamped the cake stand in Versamark ink, and heat-embossed it in gold. At this point I added some gold heat-embossed embellishments on the cake.
To tie in with the background, I cut two thin strips of the Gorgeous Grape patterned paper, and ran them through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, in the same Deckled Rectangle Die used to cut the main panel. I glued them to the top and bottom of the Basic White Deckled Rectangle piece.
Using the next size up of Deckled Rectangles Dies, I cut a piece of Gold Foil sheet, to mat behind my art piece. I wanted only a thin border of gold, so I tailored the size of this piece to suit. After die-cutting it, I moved the die to cut it down smaller, running it back through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.
I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink on a piece of Basic White card, then cut it out using a small Deckled Rectangles Die. I ran it back through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, after moving the cut label in the die, to cut it down to the size I wanted. This was then matted on a slightly larger piece of Gorgeous Grape card.
Here's a closer look at the gold elements. I laid some Gold 1/8" Trim across the Deckled Rectangles.
The flowers and leaves were stamped, in Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green ink, on Basic White card, and fussy-cut.
Purple Fine Shimmer Gems are the embellishments I used for the flower centres, and to decorate below the ribbon.

What a luscious layer cake, Christine. This looks so enticing - I love all of the gold elements and touches of green too. The embossing folder is the perfect match as it looks like the meringues on your cake!
ReplyDeleteA delicious Gorgeous Grape layer cake Christine. I love your layering - from the embossed background, the DSP and gold to show off the layer cake and flowers. The Fine Shimmer Gems are beautiful flower centres. xxx
ReplyDeleteLovely card Christine, it's not a set that I purchased, but I am warming to it after seeing your beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning card, Christine. I adore the gold elements you have added and all the layers of that cake are just amazing. The little pops of green in the leaves is perfect and that dry embossed background, wow!
