STAMPIN' UP! ARTISTICALLY INKED BIRTHDAY CARD IN RICH RAZZLEBERRY

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Rich Razzleberry, a reddish purple in Stampin' Up!'s colour range.

The card I created was inspired by this gorgeous piece of art that hangs in my bedroom.  (If you're in Australia, make sure you check out @art_by_caz on Instagram.  This is a custom painting done by Carolyn, to complement my decor.)

Here's what I came up with, using Rich Razzleberry, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, black and Basic White:

I started off with a Basic White piece of card, onto which I stamped numerous flowers, using the Artistically Inked stamp set.  Most of the flowers were stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink, with a couple in Smoky slate ink, and some in Basic Gray ink.  I masked off the Rich Razzleberry flowers, and applied Smoky Slate ink with a blending brush to the card panel.  Some of the not-quite-dry Rich Razzleberry ink, with which I'd stamped the masks onto Post-it Notes before cutting out, blended into the background as well.  I was going for a colour-mixed, imperfect, look so was quite pleased when this happened!

I heat-embossed some flower centres, and additional dots (including some from the In Bloom stamp set), using silver embossing powder.

The flower stems were stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and a stamp from In Bloom.  I used a black Artline 0.4 fineliner to add squiggly near-vertical lines to the panel.

Once I'd finished inking this piece, I cut it out using a Scalloped Contours die.  I matted it on a larger Scalloped Contours die-cut piece, in Rich Razzleberry.  The grey woodgrain-patterned background is a piece of Heart & Home Designer Series Paper, with Smoky Slate ink added using a blending brush.

The sentiment was stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink on a strip of Basic White card.  Some dots were stamped in Smoky Slate ink, either side of the sentiment.  From My Heart Faceted Gems were added, to finis off the card.
