STAMPIN' UP! FRIENDSHIP CARD IN PEAR PIZZAZZ

This week's Colour Creations blog hop is all about Pear Pizzazz, one of Stampin' Up!'s beautiful greens.

I had a lot of fun making my card.  You may be surprised to learn that in creating this rather simple card, I used no fewer than FIVE stamp sets!  I had a bit of a giggle at the misguided notion I had, over 20 years ago, that making my own cards "would save money".  But, oh what pleasure this hobby has brought into my life!

The main panel, and starting point, of my card is a piece of Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper, that looks like grass and sky.  The bottom part of the design is Pear Pizzazz, and the top portion is Pool Party.

I stamped directly onto the DSP, with a variety of different stamps.  Using Stitchery, and Pear Pizzazz ink, I created a faux-stitched border.  I stamped some clouds, from Tulip Fields, onto the Pool Party section of the paper, using Pool Party ink.  The tufts of grass on the Pear Pizzazz part of the paper, were created with a stamp from Garden Birdhouses, and Pear Pizzazz ink.

The tree canopy (using a stamp from Beauty of Friendship) was stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink on a scrap of the same Flowering Fields DSP used for my card front.  I also stamped the sentiment, from Bragworthy, on another scrap of DSP, using Pear Pizzazz ink.

As well as some Pool Party clouds (cut from the same sheet of Flowering Fields DSP, using Windmill Fields Dies), I added to my card some Basic White clouds that were sitting on my craft desk from a previous creating session.  The white clouds were cut using Brilliant Rainbow Dies.

I cut a couple of birds from Pool Party cardstock, using Beautiful Trees Dies, and lightly sponged them with Pool Party ink.  Some Faux Sea Glass shapes finish off the card.

I used Windmill Fields Dies to cut a sweet bicycle from Basic Gray card, making sure I put some Adhesive Sheet on the back before die-cutting.  This made it easy to remove some of the stubborn "bits", and adhered the bike without any glue mess.

The sentiment was cut out with a Tasteful Labels Die.

  1. A big yes from me to the pleasure this hobby has brought into all of our lives, especially connecting with all of the wonderful people on the blog hop! Christine you've bought so many different elements together just perfectly in this card and I love the collagey/scrappy feel you've achieved.

  2. A delightful card Christine. You have combined the numerous stamp sets and other elements brilliantly. It’s amazing the inspiration that comes from left over pieces on the table. I agree - crafting brings so much joy (and therapy) and so many friendships. Your card is priceless. Xxx

  3. Great use of that DSP to use for the grass and sky to create the outdoor scene with all the different elements working so well together. Lovely card Christine!

  4. Haha you always amaze me at the total number of elements you use in a card but this would have to be near the top. Five stamp sets wow! I must admit that I hadn't even noticed the Stitchery stamp but I do like it. You have created such a beautiful serene landscape. Finally I am also thankful to SU! even though I am sure we wouldn't have needed it to retain our friendship.

  5. I love how you create with so many different products to create your cards, Christine and this one is fantastic. The way you began with the DSP and stamped directly onto it to create your scene is brilliant. The faux stitching is wonderful and the sea glass shapes add an earthy touch. I'm not sure I've ever used 5 stamp sets, so must give it a try. I giggled too at your comment about cheaper cards, but how wonderful it has been to meet loads of new friends through this hobby.

  6. Mmmm, just smell the serenity - sigh. Such a gorgeous, sweet scene Christine. How wonderful that we can coordinate so many of our stamp sets to create our little masterpieces. Stampin’ Up! has brought so much joy to my life, from the fantastic products to the wonderful friendships. I can still remember my very first OnStage in Sydney, I was such a newbie! But I remember walking into the bathroom and saying out loud, “that’s Christine Blain”! Our first meeting - lol.

  8. Our hobby certainly does bring us joy Christine. Sometimes, I feel it has actually been my saviour when times have been tough. Your card is beautiful and has a serene feel about it. I really like the use of the neutral as the card base. It really offsets the blue and green.
